Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Cole.
Hi Heidi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always dreamed of owning a spa. From my teenage years, I always loved make-up and skincare, etc. I originally went to the University of Tennessee and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business.
I worked many different jobs including retail buying, real estate, executive assistant, property manager, perfume model, and even catering. After having kids I became a stay-at-home mom for my 2 girls.
I was offered a position at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Center in 2008 and that was my re-introduction to the workforce. I have held many positions with the company over the years at the corporate office and really enjoyed working there. However, I still had the drive to own my own spa business someday.
I decided to go to Nursing School in 2018 and received my Associate’s degree in Nursing in 2020 from Pellissippi State Community College. Thankfully, I was able to stay with my current company and move to the clinical side of the practice. That year would be one of the most challenging years as a nurse. I have learned many aspects of nursing while there including infusions and provider nursing etc.
I took it upon myself to start researching how to open a medspa and get certified in Botox and filler. I took some educational classes with American Medical Educators training and received my certified injector certificate. I also found an aesthetic nurse mentor that would help me with my medspa business. At this time as well, my daughter, Brittany Chisholm, was at the Tennessee School of Beauty and received her esthetician license.
She took classes while she was there to become a Certified Lash Artist, a Make-Up artist, and a laser tech as well. With her and my skills together we decided it was a perfect match to start this business. I was so lucky over the past few years to have met some amazing people, including my husband, that would help me get Modern Bella Aesthetics up and running.
It has been a long time coming and I am so thrilled to be at this stage!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I ran into obstacle after obstacle while starting this business. I found out that this field is very competitive and not a lot of people help you get started, unfortunately.
It took me about a year to get all the pieces of the puzzle together to be able to open it. I ended up meeting one person, in particular, that put me in touch with the right people to get the ball rolling. I am so grateful for that person! There is so much training, licenses, accounts, etc.
That has to be set up. I also had to find a doctor to work with which was very difficult. I ended up finding a wonderful physician that is so supportive and excited to work with us. Regardless of the challenges I faced, I continued to persevere and follow my dream!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We will specialize in helping people enhance their natural beauty. Both my daughter and I love to talk and meet new people. That is the fun thing about this business, you get to constantly meet new clients who hopefully become friends.
We will be giving complimentary consultations to our clients and informing them of practices and procedures that will help them reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, skin care education, and simply how to fight the signs of aging. We strive to make every client feel beautiful regardless of what they would like to have done when they come and see us.
With our custom facials, peels, micro-needling, and neurotoxin/filler injections, our clients are sure to fall in love with their skin! We get so much excitement putting smiles on our client’s faces and helping them feel relaxed and refreshed!
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people do not know that I love to sing and I secretly wanted to be a country music singer. Lol.
