Rising Stars: Meet David Teeters of West Knox

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Teeters.

Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Visualize Art Studio is the home base and teaching studio for travelling glass art unit, Glassadazical. The concept of Visualize began within the members of Glassadazical somewhere around the fall of 2022, Knoxville is one of the more artistic cities in the country… but most of that creativity is happening in people’s garages and basements. Our goal is to create a 3rd place for the creative souls of East TN to come and grow together in their love for glass art! In the Winter of 2024, the planets aligned, and our vision put into motion. With the help of the whole team and the discovery of our new studio location, this great effort began over the winter holidays of 2024. After a few months of choreographed construction, late nights, sweat and tears… we were able to open our doors in March 2025!

Since then, we have been in a constant state of improvement and development with our space and offering. We have daily class offerings spread across many categories of glass art such as stained glass – flameworking/lampworking – and fused glass. Roaming art workshops are now in our offering where we can come to your establishment with our kits and stations to have a class in your space. Beginners are more than welcome in our classes, and we love hosting groups of up to 10 at a time in our studio. Team Building, Appreciation Nights, Small Groups, Girls’ Night, etc are all welcome!

We look forward to meeting you and seeing that glass art glow after your first class!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our initial obstacles were construction timeline, but those obstacles were tackled by our perseverance. Naturally, financial struggles have been consistent, but we hope those alleviate as classes start to fill in.

Right now – getting our name out there is our biggest challenge. We KNOW there are thousands of people in Knoxville who would really enjoy our space, we just have to grow that awareness to locate those people

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I personally have an engineering career to keep my family provided for, but in the world of this artistic venture, we are the only glass art teaching studio in West Knoxville. Our glass teachers are very diverse, talented and excited all the creative minds of our community! One unusual aspect is our classroom flexibility. We can host classes basically around the convenience and theme preferences of our students. Anyone can feel free to reach out with a timeslot in mind and creative theme for the class, we’ll do our best to accommodate!

How do you think about happiness?
My family, our community and glass art make me happy! I think we as humans are meant for a tight knit existence with a strong sense of community. Additionally, I think being hands-on creating something is critical to long term fulfillment
