Meet Warren Green of Black Pyramid Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Warren Green

Hi Warren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in the historic town of Eatonville, Florida—a community rich in culture and history. My upbringing was rooted in structure and values, thanks to my parents, Warren Sr., an entrepreneur (one-fourth owner of First Impressions Lawn & Landscaping), and Miriam Green, a present and active stay-at-home mom. Growing up in a religious home with six younger siblings, I was the oldest, which shaped my deep sense of responsibility and duty to protect and nurture my family. My role as an older sibling instilled in me the importance of leadership, accountability, and service.

My childhood was diverse and vibrant, filled with sports like football, basketball, and golf, and a deep appreciation for the arts. I spent hours painting, drawing, and engaging in theater, as well as playing musical instruments such as the trombone and drums. These varied experiences gave me a unique perspective on life and an appreciation for the spectrum of human creativity.

After graduating high school, I moved to Lakeland, Florida, to attend Southeastern University as a student-athlete. I was part of their inaugural football team in 2013, which was a remarkable experience. I majored in Organizational Leadership, driven by a desire to understand how to inspire and mobilize others.

In 2017, I ventured into entrepreneurship, launching a non-profit called Camp Fundamentals. It was aimed at young athletes, helping them develop the fundamentals of sports while fostering discipline and character. Around the same time, I rekindled my passion for media by launching my first podcast, The Passion Playbook, in 2017. However, despite my enthusiasm, lack of resources and traction led to the eventual dissolution of these efforts.

In search of stability, I moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in IT. My journey began at Ritway, a family-owned logistics and marketing company, where I served as an IT Data Manager. For two years, I managed orders, inventory, and financial data through spreadsheets for both internal operations and external vendors. This role laid the groundwork for my transition into business analysis.

I then joined Altar’d State as a Business Analyst, sharpening my skills for a year before moving to Pilot Company, where I am now a Senior IT Business Analyst. At Pilot, I’ve been privileged to grow in my career for over two and a half years while also serving as Vice President of the BRIDGE Business Resource Group (Building Relationships in Diverse Group Environments). In this capacity, I’ve championed initiatives to create inclusive workspaces and foster professional growth for team members across diverse backgrounds.

Having established financial and professional stability, I felt it was time to return to my entrepreneurial roots. In April 2023, I founded Black Pyramid Media (BPM), where I serve as CEO, leading a diverse team of over ten talented individuals. BPM’s mission is to empower voices, elevate brands, and create transformative media experiences. We are committed to values of integrity, creativity, and collaboration, serving clients across podcast production, digital content creation, and media strategy.

Knoxville’s media market presented a clear gap in podcasting, and we identified an opportunity to fill it. Armed with a strong team, a detailed strategy, and a deep understanding of the community’s needs, we set out to create impactful content and provide unparalleled media services. Today, BPM is a growing force in Knoxville, blending passion with purpose to serve creators, businesses, and storytellers in achieving their vision.

Looking back, every chapter of my story—from my early days in Eatonville to launching Black Pyramid Media—has been a testament to resilience, growth, and faith. My journey reflects not only my determination but also the incredible support of my family, mentors, and community. I’m proud of where I’ve come from and excited for the future as I continue to build a legacy through media and storytelling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been anything but smooth. My journey has been marked by struggles, setbacks, and some of the most challenging moments of my life. Each of these experiences has shaped me, teaching me resilience, humility, and the value of perseverance.

One of my earliest challenges came with my first business venture, Camp Fundamentals, a non-profit organization I established in 2017. The goal was to create training camps for young athletes, equipping them with the fundamentals of their respective sports while instilling discipline and character. Despite my passion and commitment, the organization struggled due to a lack of funding and proper business structure. Eventually, I had to dissolve it, which was a difficult but necessary decision. It taught me the importance of solid planning and sustainable financial models in entrepreneurship.

Another significant opportunity, and eventual struggle, came with the development of Athlytics, a beta analytics software I worked on with a business partner (Sterling Daly) in 2018. The software had immense potential, even capturing the interest of several investors. However, we lacked the critical insight and strategic direction to take it beyond the beta stage. Watching that project fall flat was disappointing but invaluable in helping me understand the gap between a great idea and a successful execution.

Beyond business, my career path itself was often unclear. I found myself moving back and forth between administrative and sales roles, unsure of where I could best contribute my skills and thrive. This uncertainty ultimately led to my move to Knoxville, Tennessee, in search of career and financial stability—a decision that would later prove pivotal in my personal and professional growth.

The most profound struggle of my life, however, was the loss of my father, Warren Sr., to colon cancer in March 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. My father was my namesake, my role model, and the cornerstone of our family. At the time, I was living in Knoxville and traveled back and forth frequently to visit him. When COVID mandates were implemented, travel became complicated, and visits were restricted. I managed to visit him a couple of weeks before his passing, but the limitations of the pandemic added an emotional weight to an already devastating situation.

After his passing, I assisted my mother, Miriam, in organizing the funeral arrangements while navigating strict COVID protocols. We were unable to have a traditional service due to mandates restricting proximity in enclosed spaces, and only immediate family members were allowed at the burial site. It was a surreal and heartbreaking experience. Reading the funeral program and seeing my father’s name—my name—was a sobering and grounding moment. It forced me to confront my own mortality and left me with a deepened sense of purpose and responsibility.

The emotional waves were constant, and balancing my own grief with the need to be mentally and emotionally present for my family was a challenge I had never faced before. Yet, that experience became a wake-up call. It reminded me of the importance of living intentionally, embracing every opportunity to make a difference, and cherishing the people around me.

These struggles have shaped who I am today. They’ve taught me resilience, the importance of clear vision and strategy, and the need to approach life with empathy and purpose. While the road has been far from smooth, each bump and turn has prepared me to navigate the path ahead with strength and determination.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is living with intention and fostering connection—both within myself and with others. This begins with taking the time to understand my personal beliefs and continuously developing my faith. Faith has been a cornerstone of my life, giving me guidance and clarity even in the most challenging moments. It helps me navigate the world with purpose and grace, providing the foundation for how I approach everything I do.

Equally important is the practice of connecting with myself. Reflective practices like journaling have been transformative for me. They allow me to pause, assess, and realign my thoughts and actions with my deeper values. Through journaling, I’ve gained clarity about my purpose and how I can best serve others. It’s a practice that grounds me, offering perspective and a sense of peace amidst life’s inevitable chaos.

Creating environments that foster collaboration, creativity, and communication is another value I hold dear. I believe these elements create the greatest opportunity for a harmonious humanity. When people are given the space to share ideas, work together, and express themselves authentically, incredible things happen. Whether it’s in my personal relationships, my professional work, or within my team at Black Pyramid Media, I am committed to cultivating spaces where everyone feels empowered to contribute and grow.

Finally, sharing what I know with anyone ready to receive is a responsibility I take seriously. I’ve been fortunate to learn from both successes and failures, and I believe that knowledge should never be hoarded. When I started my first podcast in 2017, I faced challenges that could have been mitigated if someone had shared their experiences with me. That’s why I make it a priority to mentor, guide, and educate others, ensuring they have access to the tools and insights I wish I had at the beginning of my journey.

These values matter deeply to me because they align with the vision I have for my life: to inspire, to uplift, and to leave a meaningful legacy. It’s about more than just personal fulfillment; it’s about contributing to a world where people feel connected, supported, and capable of achieving their greatest potential. When I look back on my life, I want to know that I lived in alignment with these principles and that, in some way, I helped create a ripple effect of positivity and growth. That is what truly matters most to me.
