Meet Bethany Stahl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Stahl.

Hi Bethany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
It began at an art gallery. I was invited to showcase pieces at the Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville during a Knoxville Symphony Orchestra performance.

I had sold a few works, but the main comment I kept receiving was how fun it would be to see me create a coloring book. My collection featured a lot of mandala-type patterns and I loved the feedback and decided to start looking into publishing a coloring book.

After researching and looking into publishing I decided I wanted to publish a legitimate book, something more substantial than a coloring book. So, I published my first book, fell in love, and haven’t stopped since. Funny thing is, is that I never got around to making that coloring book!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was hard to begin to find resources on self-publishing. At the start of my career, I felt overwhelmed and struggled to figure out how to have a successful self-publishing career. Luckily, over time I have figured it out, and those challenges have led me to create resources for other aspiring authors to follow and take advantage of.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an author and illustrator. I specialize in children’s books, and I am most known for my Save the Earth® series. It is an environmental series where each book focuses on a different problem and solution on how people can work together to help create a healthier planet.

I’m most proud of seeing the reach my books have had. I’ve had schools across the globe use my books in schools from pre-school up to 9th grade. The Save the Earth® series has created real change in the world, and I think that is the most rewarding part is seeing the message being carried from story to real-world environmental efforts.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I was working from my home office for a few years before Covid, however, I have been able to share my author journey with others looking to become authors and help mentor hundreds of new authors along the way.

The Covid-19 crisis has prompted others to look for more ways to sustain not only their creativity but their dreams and aspirations and I’ve been able to be a part of helping so many others fulfill their self-publishing dreams.

Pricing:

  • Save the Earth series Paperbacks are $14.99
  • My Patreon page (with access to author resources) is $5 a month.

I have all of Bethany’s books. I buy them for my grandchildren who take them to school and share them. I would recommend them to anyone with children who want them to learn about our world and how to sustain it. Great pictures that the kids love.
