Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison George
Hi Alison, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Alison George—an artist, illustrator, and all-around nature lover with a BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I specialize in realism, bringing portraits, still lifes, and landscapes to life with every brushstroke.
My biggest inspirations? My family and the great outdoors. My husband and I have two amazing (and very energetic) kids—Ricky (3) and Olivia (1). They keep me on my toes, fill my days with joy, and remind me to see the world with fresh eyes. Their curiosity fuels my creativity and keeps me endlessly inspired.
My love for nature started long before they came along. Back when I was a student in Savannah, Georgia, I met my husband at 19, and our idea of a perfect day involved hiking, camping, fishing, boating, and hunting for shark teeth on Tybee Island. Those adventures sparked my passion for capturing wildlife and landscapes in my art, and that passion has never faded.
When Ricky turned one, we took a leap and moved to Tennessee, trading sandy shores for misty mountains. The scenery may have changed, but my love for painting the natural world remains the same. The rolling hills, quiet forests, and incredible wildlife here keep my creativity flowing.
At the heart of everything I paint is a sense of wonder—whether it’s the way sunlight filters through the trees or the quiet beauty of a fleeting moment. Through my art, I hope to share that magic and inspire others to see the beauty in the world around them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge I’ve faced in my art business is balancing my creativity—sometimes, I have so many ideas that I push myself too hard and risk burnout. But no matter how busy I am with other tasks, I always feel the pull to create. Art isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What makes my work unique is my deep love for detail and realism. I strive to create portraits, landscapes, and scenes that feel alive—capturing the richness, depth, and vibrancy of the world around us. I’m drawn to bold, beautiful colors, just like the ones found in nature, and I do my best to bring them to life on the canvas. My goal is always to bridge the gap between art and reality, making each piece feel as close to the real world as possible.
I also take commissions! Whether it’s a portrait of a loved one, a beloved pet, or a favorite vacation spot, I love bringing special memories to life. Using reference photos from my clients, I recreate each piece with careful attention to detail, capturing the essence of what makes those moments so meaningful.
In addition to my business, I also have a YouTube channel called Fine Art by Alison, where I share my creative process and artwork. You can also find me on Instagram, Facebook, and my website, where I showcase my work. I sell prints of my artwork on posters, as well as canvases and other products through my Etsy shop. Be sure to check them out!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I want to express my gratitude to my entire family. My mom and dad played a crucial role in helping me get through college, providing me with the tools and knowledge I need for my business today. I also want to thank my husband for encouraging me to be the best version of myself in everything I do.
