Life & Work with Stacy Whitworth of Knoxville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Whitworth.

Hi Stacy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a third generation owner. My grandfather started the business in the Medical Arts building in 1962 and I took over in 2006.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everything‘s been pretty standard and status quo. Doctors come and go ,and change ,some retire. You have new ones coming in that’s learning ,but everything was pretty standard up until 2019 ,2020 when Covid hit and that really impacted and changed a lot of this industry. Here we are in the end of 2025 and I feel like dental labs are still Recovering. You still have the same goals ,the dentists and the labs have to work together as a team to ensure they’re giving a quality product to the patient.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Dentures, partials, all removables. When you do them the traditional way everything is formatted from your vision called case planning .You have to kind of envision the dentures or the appliances before you make them. Now they are trying to go more of a digital route and I have my own personal opinions on that ,I think traditional has been around for decades and decades and if the impressions and bite were taken right and each step is done properly, they’ve always worked and they will continue to always Work. Sometimes a shiny new toy isn’t the next best thing but it’s a trial by fire business .

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
They would have no idea of all of the hours and time that I put in to try to produce the best product that I can. When I say seven days a week ,I mean seven days a week.
