Today we’d like to introduce you to Ross Smith.
Hi Ross, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2013, an app called Vine became popular. That’s when I first picked up my phone and started recording videos while I was still in college. When I went home for Spring break I started filming with my grandma and the rest is history! We were having a lot of fun together and haven’t stopped filming since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth, but everything has its ups and downs. For the first five years, I had to juggle my college classes, playing football, working, and making videos with grandma. I started worrying about my future and what I was going to do in order to make a living. As we made more videos over time, social media platforms continued to grow as well as our following. I started to see the potential to turn this into a full-time career! Working with a 96-year-old also has its challenges. This past year grandma had a few health scares, but she was tough and made it through. I’m just so grateful that I am still able to have her around and we can continue living life to the fullest together.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a social media creator with the goal of putting a smile on everyone’s face! I believe my creativity, my grandma, and my connection with my cast members set me apart from others. I am most proud of making people laugh and smile all around the world and strive to put out positive content as there is so much negativity in the world.
