Life & Work with Gabrielle Rice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Rice.

Hi Gabrielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with my Bachelor of Business Administration: in Marketing and Management with a minor in International Business. After I graduated college, all of my best friends quickly spread out all over the country.

Trying to find time for a quick phone call recap of our lives while we are all busy with new responsibilities is hard to plan. My friends and I have found that being pen pals is a great way to keep in touch! Checking my mailbox to find handwritten notes from them has turned into one of my favorite things and means so much more to me than getting a quick text.

I have always appreciated the sentiment of a handwritten letter but I would always save it for a special occasion- now I know there is always a reason to send someone a sweet note! My newfound love of letter writing led me to a big problem- I didn’t have beautiful stationery that felt like “me”. That set me on a mission and since then I’ve spent countless hours designing paper goods that are sure to delight anyone who comes in contact with them.

I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and I’ve spent my entire life dreaming of the day I’d own my own business as well. After analyzing my love of gift giving, my attention to detail, my desire for everything in my life to be aesthetically pleasing, and my passion for being creative- it was a no-brainer for me to pursue creating all the best paper goods, event invitations, & party must-haves.

In the spring of 2021, I began the planning process of starting Little Bit of Thoughtful – creating a name and logo, filling out paperwork, creating products, creating a website, and spreading the word! In the fall of 2021, I launched my website offering custom stationery and other party goods and began creating wedding invitations.

I started creating wedding invitations and stationery for local friends but quickly have begun gaining customers all over the United States. I have been in business for about a year now and am so excited about my success so far and can’t wait to see where I am a year from now.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been ups and downs throughout the past year but my determination and hard work have allowed this fun hobby of mine to turn into a thriving business!

There are so many things that you don’t know until you try them and I am so lucky to have clients that allow me to explore my creative ideas. I currently work a separate full-time day job so my biggest struggle has been using my spare time wisely.

I wake up early, stay up late, and use my weekends to get ahead in my business but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am incredibly focused on my goals. I know what I want my business to grow into and I am dedicated to making that happen!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating invitations, stationery, day-of-event details, and gifts. I have a very classic, traditional style and allow that to shine through in my work. I create paper goods like invitations, stationery sets, and notepads.

I also create party goods like cups, napkins, coasters, and can coolers. I have some new offerings coming very soon and I am so excited to announce them! I am most proud of my ability to take someone’s ideas and bring them to life.

I love being able to take details from wedding invitations and incorporate them into other aspects of their wedding day like on cups, napkins, menus, place cards, and programs – just to name a few! I think it’s those details that really take your event to the next level!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think there are two qualities that are most important to my success. The first being I am an incredibly hard worker. I prioritize my business and my clients and am willing to do whatever it takes to go above and beyond every single time.

I put a lot of time and effort into each project I am a part of and have a really high standard for myself. I am also incredibly relationship-centered and genuinely want to get to know my clients! I take a lot of pride in my work and want to be someone they recommend to their friends and family.

I try my hardest to make working with me a seamless and fun process for my clients! Over time when my clients need a gift or need event invitations or decor, I want to be the first person they think of and come back to every single time!
