Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaunda Jones.
Hi Shaunda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a registered nurse, a life coach for women, and a mom of five. As a natural-born nurturer, I love all of these roles, even though they keep me busy.
In fact, you can find me at a dance competition or basketball game almost every weekend! I am my kid’s biggest cheerleader.
I am most known for connecting women across the city through meet-ups for nurses and book clubs with women. I love encouraging women and pushing for their growth. It comes naturally to me because I genuinely care about their success. I believe that when one of us grows, we all benefit and that has a huge impact on our families and our communities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Even though I am a born nurturer, like many women, I wasn’t good at nurturing myself. Seven years ago I realized that all of the things that were supposed to make me happy, like a nice home, a big family, and a career were not actually bringing me joy. I was just going through the motions.
My actions reflected that. I had a difficult relationship with my oldest child and I was in an unhealthy marriage and work environment. I tried to make myself feel better with alcohol, food, and buying things.
I knew I had to do something different so began going to therapy which set me on a new path. She asked me a question that changed my life, “What do you do for yourself?” I couldn’t answer!
Finding out what brought me joy and how to care for myself as I cared for others changed my life. I got connected to myself. I started journaling and walking. I got divorced. I took a job that I’m in love with that also allows me to be present for my kids. By changing myself, I created a fulfilling life. This journey sparked a passion in me to help other women love their life too.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My goal is to help women globally love life right now. Not when they get all the stuff, lose ten pounds, or have more money. Because that doesn’t bring happiness. Your peace and happiness are internal. It starts with you!
With the right mindset, beliefs, habits, and routines you can choose to be happy now. That’s what I teach women to do. By connecting to yourself and learning to love yourself unconditionally you can create a life of peace and joy with the life you have.
Whether you are an overwhelmed mom with young kids or getting to a point in life where things are slowing down, you are worthy of filling your own cup. It’s the key to being the kind of mom, grandmother, partner, sister, friend and happy women you want to be.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love Brene Brown and Eric Thomas. And most anything personal development and relationship building. YouTube is a go-to for meditation to Jumpstart/reset my day.
