Hi Leslie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started in bridal almost 20 years ago while in college in middle TN. After working at various bridal stores in Nashville for almost a decade, I felt called to create my own store back home in Knoxville. I purchased the business (previously called Wedding Wonderland), re-named it after both of my grandmothers (Lillian and Ruth Alyce), and moved it to downtown Knoxville. I wanted to bring something new to east TN that didn’t yet exist: elevated, refined bridal mixed with a down-to-earth, welcoming experience in a fresh atmosphere.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In general, yes the road has been smooth and I’m lucky to steward such a beloved business. As with any small business, we dealt with struggles and pivots during Covid. But we came out on the other side stronger, and we’ve grown so much since then.
We’ve been impressed with Lillian Ruth Bride, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We carry wedding dresses and veils. Our precision for selecting dresses, our commitment to quality, and our unwavering dedication to our brides are what we’re known for. We help brides feel celebrated, beautiful, and joyful and create moments that will be remembered for a lifetime. Our brand is elevated and approachable.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how friendly and down-to-earth our city is. It’s easy to strike up a conversation, and you never know who you’ll meet. Game days in downtown are a feeling I’ll never get tired of, and the proximity to nature is hard to beat. The thing I like least? The growing traffic, haha!
