Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Stiffler.
Hi Laura, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my real estate journey in February 2023 during a particularly challenging season for my family. We had navigated the uncertainty of COVID, welcomed our fourth child, experienced the sudden heartbreaking loss of my mother, and then faced the unexpected when my husband was laid off from his job.
Initially, I was simply looking for a way to contribute financially in a very part-time capacity. I started as a showing agent on a team — but it didn’t take long for me to realize I wanted to do more. I quickly discovered a passion for real estate and made the decision to become a full-time REALTOR®.
I’m incredibly grateful to have found this career. It’s a privilege to walk alongside my clients in some of the most significant moments of their lives — whether it’s finding their dream home or selling a house that holds years of memories. Buying or selling a home is often the largest financial transaction a person will make, and it’s an honor to guide families through that emotional and exciting process with care and integrity.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Real estate is definitely a roller coaster — I don’t think any agent would call it “smooth”. There are lots of highs and lows, just like any job. For me, the hardest part is juggling the busy schedules of my four kids along with work. It can be a lot, but I’m really fortunate to have a super supportive, hands-on husband. Even with the challenges, I think this is such a great job for a working parent. My kids get to see me work hard, treat people with honesty and care, and push through tough days — and I love that they’re learning those values by watching it firsthand. They see that hard work and integrity are of utmost importance to me and they get a front row seat to that.
As you know, we’re big fans of East TN Homes and Lakes Group with United Real Estate Solutions. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a full-time REALTOR® with United Real Estate Solutions and a proud member of the East Tennessee Homes and Lakes Team — the number one team in our brokerage. I specialize in helping people buy, sell, and invest in real estate across East Tennessee. It’s an honor to work alongside some of the most dedicated and talented agents in the Knoxville area. What I love most about our team is how each of us brings something different to the table. We collaborate, share our strengths, and are constantly learning from one another.
What I’m most proud of is my courage and endurance. I’ve walked through some difficult seasons, but I’ve kept showing up with purpose and grit. I never imagined I’d end up in real estate, but it’s been one of life’s most delightful surprises. Losing my mom changed everything for me. It reminded me how short and precious life really is, and gave me the push I needed to try something new. I remember thinking, “What if I fail? Oh well — NEXT!” Life is just too short not to go after your dreams.
I’ve always been inspired by the Mary Oliver quote: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” That question has helped guide me ever since.
What sets me apart as a REALTOR® is how deeply I care. I work incredibly hard for my clients — and often end up forming lifelong friendships in the process. I show up, no matter what, and I lead with integrity because that’s what matters most to me.
I’m also incredibly proud to be aligned with a team that shares those same values: honesty, grit, and integrity. Together, we offer expertise in everything from lake homes and land to residential, investment, and new construction properties. Whatever you’re looking for, we’re here to help you find it — and we’ll walk with you every step of the way.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people don’t know that years ago, I was an Art teacher! Although I’m originally from East Tennessee, I spent several years teaching visual art in public schools in South Carolina and St. Louis, Missouri. I had the opportunity to teach students from elementary all the way through high school, and I truly loved helping young people tap into their creativity. That background has shaped the way I approach real estate — with creativity, empathy, and a strong appreciation for the unique story behind every home and client.
