Hi Jake , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my electrical career in 1990 as an apprentice with Lewis Electric. Over the years, I’ve remained dedicated to the electrical trade, gaining hands-on experience in both residential and commercial work. After spending 15 years as an electrical inspector for the City of Oak Ridge, I decided to pursue new opportunities and explore business ownership.
In a full-circle moment, I reconnected with Jeff Lewis, the owner of Lewis Electric—where my career first began. He offered me the chance to collaborate with him during his transition into retirement, and I eventually took over the company. Today, I’m proud to own and operate Lewis Electric.
I truly enjoy the day-to-day challenges this field brings and the opportunity to meet and work with new people. Every project is a chance to learn something new and deliver high-quality electrical solutions to our clients.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a business has been a bigger beast than I expected—there are a lot of moving parts, and the learning curve is real. But I continue to learn something new every day. I enjoy the daily challenges, meeting new people, and finding solutions that keep our customers satisfied. Every day brings a new experience, and that’s what keeps it exciting.
