Inspiring Conversations with Courtney Pollack of Courtney Taylor Event Planning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Pollack.

Hi Courtney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as a hospitality major at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and fell in love with the event planning industry. Upon graduation, I worked in several different event planning roles from hotel catering sales, to Government meeting planning, to corporate event planning before starting my own business in late 2020. I love the hospitality industry because of the ability to connect with my clients and play a small role in an important day of their lives. Whether it is working weddings, corporate events, or small social gatherings- I want each event to be as memorable as it can be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Launching a small business during COVID was definitely a challenge. I think that time was difficult for many business owners, but especially for the hospitality industry. It did teach me a lot and made me stronger and more knowledgeable from the experiences during that time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Courtney Taylor Event Planning?
I am an East Tennessee based event planner that specializes in weddings and special events. I am a sole proprietor and handle all of the booking, communication, planning and lead planner on-site for events. I do have a few day of assistants that are wonderful assets to my business and ensuring a successful day. My two main wedding packages I offer are a semi-planning package and a full service package. I want my couples to get the best experience of hiring me because of the care and attention that I put into their day. For my event planning packages, I offer all custom pricing to focus on what my customer’s want and need for their function. I think my experience in different areas of event planning, my focus on strong communication, and my heart for this job allows me to connect with amazing clients and form relationships even after their day has passed.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I am a Knoxville-native and love the sense of community most. This city has grown so much over the last few years and will continue to expand, which is an exciting thing to witness. Besides the small town feel, this area also has so much beauty and charm that it captivates locals and tourists alike.
