Hidden Gems: Meet Trevor Jones of Envy Brand Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Jones.

Hi Trevor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was a teenager. I started my first legitimate business when I was 15 selling paintball products online. In college, I bought a vinyl plotter and sold decals as well as offered photography at various events. Throughout my undergraduate degree, I had the opportunity of working on the content administration team at Walgreens Corporate and got to see the value of consistent creative. Fast forward a few years of marketing consulting, I landed a position as the marketing director at Master Dry/Master Service Companies. Using what I knew about data-driven advertising and thoughtful branding, I was able to accelerate a $5m business to over $25m in annual revenue in under 5 years. From my nearly a decade of experience and networking, growing a business is heavily influenced by effective advertising and thoughtful, creative/branding. I started Envy Brand Studio in 2021 out of the need for an agency that focuses on small and medium-sized businesses in the Knoxville area. We provide our clients with a full creative team, doing everything from graphic design, web development, video production, and content management.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it has been a smooth journey. Since beginning in October of 2021, we’ve been slammed with projects. However, I built this business around the offerings that I, as a marketing director, would have wanted versus having the cost burden of an internal team. Financially, what we offer makes sense to our clients, and the ability to allocate time towards different creative specialties as the seasons change has been most appreciated.

Clients have struggled with the thought of investing into branding and creative. It takes some education to open someone’s eyes to the value we bring to their organization. It’s been fun helping those in our community understand how they can elevate their brand to support their long-term vision of growing their organization.

As you know, we’re big fans of Envy Brand Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Envy Brand Studio is a hybrid between a creative marketing agency and outsourced staffing. We’ve developed a roadmap to getting our client brands to a place where branding becomes their competitive advantage. Every business needs creative, but it’s highly unlikely that one individual can provide the quality of services across multiple creative disciplines. We tailor our plans to what a business needs, and ultimately provides all the creative an an affordable monthly investment. We’re most known for merging creative design with data driven advertising strategies, efficiently leveraging our client’s marketing budget for maximum ROI. We focus on long-term relationships, and allow our clients to operate their business and leave the marketing to us. If a company is looking to hire an internal marketing team, or add to the one they have, I welcome them to talk with us and see why we’re a better option. We only work with local businesses as we regularly offer photography, social media management, and video production services that you aren’t able to offer remotely.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Marketing is ever changing and evolving. What works today will likely not work tomorrow. Creating a brand takes time, but is often the most overlooked and under-appreciated asset an organization has. It’s the organizations that become good at marketing and branding that is often times the market leader.
