Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Crouse.
Hi Kate, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi and thanks for having me here today. My name is Kate and I’m the owner and face of A Touch of Whimsi Weddings & Events. We are an award-winning (we just won best of Tennessee for wedding planning) wedding planning and design company who also offers silk florals. We specialize in elegant, romantic, and purposely executed weddings. It’s all in the details!
I started back in 2008, planning my daughter Sarah’s birthday parties. From there friends asked me to start helping them plan their children’s parties and
than someone said, hey could you help me plan a wedding? Which I did, and from there I fell in love. However, I honestly was just doing small weddings and events off and on, here and there, and I was actually still working my regular job. Than, in 2022, I decided to branch out and really go for it. I was telling my husband how much I just really wanted to be involved in weddings and that this was my dream, and he said… go for it! So I did. I now have a team that works with me. I’m so grateful for my lead coordinator and all of my team, and I’m so excited to own this company with my business partner and husband, Charles! And of course, I’m thankful to my daughter because it all started with her!
I truly love working with all of my couples and I really try to get to know them so that I can incorporate touches that are just really personal to them. It’s about getting to know them. But it’s also not just enough to try to make it aesthetically beautiful… you have to be able to nail all the details and carry it all out.
I can’t imagine doing anything else but weddings. This is my passion and I love working with all of my couples. Regardless of which package you choose with me, from coordination all the way to full planning, I add my personal touch to every wedding. Also, something special about my business and the way my approach is, is that I start working with my couples immediately upon booking with me, even if it’s a wedding management or day of package. I’m available to my couples every step of the way.I really go out of my way for every couple. They are not clients to me, they are my couples.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been smooth as far as the fact that once I knew that this was truly meant for me, it just all fell into place, but you have to continue to grow and you have to embrace change. You have to continually be learning and evolving. I’ve had to learn about social media, how to listen intently, and I’ve had to learn about different backgrounds and different cultures. I offer not only weddings here in East Tennessee, but I do a lot of Charleston weddings and a lot of destination weddings, so I’m always learning and I’m always taking classes and watching podcasts etc. I’ve had to learn how to design websites and do Instagram reels. It’s a constant learning process. But I love it all!

We are an award-winning east Tennessee and destination, wedding planning and design company. My husband and I own the business and we have a team that works with us. We specialize in purposefully executing seamless, elegant, and romantic weddings, and a wedding that is unique to each couple we work with. I truly love watching podcasts, etc. from Carissa Kruze, Kelly Mortimer and other wonderful mentors. I am also a member of the Smoky Mountain Wedding Association & CWP Society! I’m beyond grateful for all the opportunities I have had to learn and grow in this industry!
