Hidden Gems: Meet Glenneth Reed of The Visibility Method

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenneth Reed.

Hi Glenneth , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Back in May of 2012, I was hired at a local internet marketing agency. What started as a part-time role quickly grew into a full-time position. I began with website updates, then expanded into SEO and Google Ads, which turned into my main focus.

Fast forward to January of 2018, when the owner retired. I purchased the business, rebranded it as The Visibility Method, and added my own unique spin to it. What started as a local internet marketing company has since expanded, and I now work with businesses across the U.S., Canada, and overseas.

Today, while I continue to assist with websites, content, and social media, my primary specialty is SEO and Google Ads. My mission is simple: to help small business owners get visible on Google in ways that actually work for their business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. My background is in computer science and technical writing, but I had never taken a single business or accounting course. When you own a business, suddenly you’re responsible for everything – from marketing to client work to finances. Finding the right contractors, especially for accounting, was a challenge because I knew how important it was to stay on top of my money and understand exactly what was coming in and going out.

There have also been the normal ups and downs that most business owners face – clients not paying, prospects ghosting, and, of course, 2020, when many companies pulled back on their marketing due to all the uncertainty. Those moments were challenging, but they also taught me the importance of resourcefulness.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Visibility Method. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is called The Visibility Method, and I help small business owners increase their online visibility. I specialize in SEO and Google Ads for small businesses, primarily online and local service-based businesses.

What really sets me apart is experience and approach. I’ve been doing this work for 13 years, and I don’t require long-term contracts. My focus is on getting results, not locking people in. I know small business owners already have a lot on their plates, and learning SEO or Google Ads is probably not something they want to add to their workload. That’s where I step in – I take it off their to-do list and act as an extension of their team.

One thing I’m especially proud of brand-wise is that I built The Visibility Method myself. I chose the name, designed my website, and selected brand colors that reflect my personality – hot pink, UT orange, and teal. My brand is a reflection of both my personality and the results I deliver.

When it comes to services, I don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions. SEO and Google Ads aren’t one-size-fits-all. Every business has its own unique needs, goals, and budget, which is why I create custom proposals. I take time to learn about where a business is now, what they want to achieve, and what resources they have to work with. From there, I can make recommendations I would follow myself if I were in their shoes.

I think the longevity of my client relationships also says a lot, some of my clients have been with me for more than 10 years. To me, that shows trust, results, and the true partnerships I aim to create.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Good luck has definitely played a role in my business. One example is that I never niched down into serving just one specific industry. Many SEO and Google Ads companies specialize in working with dentists, chiropractors, or wedding professionals, but I’ve always enjoyed collaborating with a diverse range of businesses. It keeps things interesting for me, and I’ve learned that the same strategies can often be adapted across industries.

That choice turned out to be a stroke of good luck in 2020. When the pandemic hit, entire industries like weddings were severely impacted, and I knew SEO and Ad specialists who lost almost all of their clients because their entire business was tied to that one field. I did lose a couple of clients, but because my client base was spread across many industries, I was able to stay afloat – and 2020 actually became my best year in business up to that point.
