Hi Eli, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was young, I have always had a passion for history. I enjoy learning about and sharing the stories that tell us where we are today, and how we got here.
What started for me as an interest in family history and genealogy quickly turned into an academic focus in college, and now has grown into my profession.
I have learned so much about my own family roots, and about how the context of social history influenced my ancestors’ lives.
Through my business, ExploreStory, I seek to provide that same immersive journey for my clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A challenge that I faced was figuring out how to get started, and how to get the ball rolling. At first, I had a lot of self-doubts: I wasn’t quite sure how to market my services.
Thankfully, I entrusted the consulting of Pharrow LLC, which is a Black-owned project management firm. Pharrow’s team supported me from the ground level upwards, in terms of setting up processes for client intake, social media marketing, digital ad campaigns, and even a holiday sale.
Working with Pharrow has helped me become increasingly self-confident as a young entrepreneur.

ExploreStory L.L.C. is a genealogy research company that specializes in African-American and Jewish family history. Our mission is “Transforming your present through knowing your past.”
We hope for a deeper appreciation for the full complexity of our ancestors’ lives: Their pain, their joy, their anger, their love, our survival. ExploreStory yearns for a world that fully grapples with dismantling racism and antisemitism.

ExploreStory provides far more than names and dates of your ancestors; we provide a socio-cultural, multilayered historical context of the time and place your ancestors lived in, and how it affected them.
Our goal is to empower clients with a deep knowledge of who and where they come from and to encourage them to draw upon their ancestors’ strength and to have a firmer footing on which to walk through the world today.
