Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Crane.
Hi Daniel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Where do I even begin? My twin sister & I were adopted as babies from South America by American parents Lucille & Alan, fast becoming U.S. Citizens by the age of 3. Having grown up on Long Island while having NYC entertainment roots, I now reside in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains of Sevierville, while having numerous Knoxville credits to my name; including: Living East Tennessee (special guest), Joy 620 with Bob Bell, The Frank & Friends Show with Frank Murphy, The Knoxville Man Show, special event singer for Fostering Hope TN & Karns Fair, a handful of assisted livings, and last but not least, the Knoxville Ice Bears National Anthem singer for a couple of seasons. I have performed in & around East TN since 2013 and although I have numerous surrounding area credits to my name, my most recent noteworthy ones including multiple awards with NACMAI (North America Country Music Associations International) as part of their country music week at Country Tonite Theater. When not performing, I also volunteer for several non-profit charities including Relay For Life Sevier County, East TN Bloodhound Rescue, and The American Cancer Society to name a few. In the middle of all of this, I have struggles with body dysmorphia, situational depression, and am on the high functioning autistic spectrum with aspergers. I wan’t my story to be one of resiliency, determination and the biggest advice I can give is this: Don’t let people in positions of power or names of influence make you feel like you should be afraid of them. Stand up for yourself! We live in a society where how dare you speak your mind to someone in power.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This road has not come without it’s run-ins, personal beefs, fall-outs, etc. But I believe it takes a person of character & integrity to recognize their faults & take steps to be better.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My parents raised my twin sister & I on all sorts of music, and I got my early singing start in NYC. Thanks to this upbringing, I now perform regularly (thanks to classical voice training from NYC) in a variety of styles, have won numerous awards, and have been thrilling and entertaining audiences for almost 20 years overall (16 years professionally).
When not performing, I also pet/house sit regularly and am a HUGE animal lover! Especially dogs & cats!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I cannot definitely say, but from my observation & experience, I see it being less about real talent and more about who can draw the biggest crowd. Currently, it is mostly favoritism, a popularity contest and seldom is real talent & showmanship ever considered anymore.
