Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Best
Hi Brianna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After a years of my family and friends coming to my gatherings that I would host and cater, eating and enjoying plant based food without even being plant based became a normal thing. People began to encourage me to share my food with others and to take it more seriously with trying to get out into the community. My mother is my biggest fan and she was who inspired and triggered my plant based journey many years ago in 2013 due to her own health and religious beliefs. After us all seeing major benefits over the years she was excited to see me grow and share a family value of bringing people together through food especially with food that wasn’t continuing to contribute to the deterioration of our family and communities. One month after my first legitimate event in September of 2021 I lost my mom to COVID and it almost broke me completely, but I remembered her watching me work my event and looking at me with so much pride in her eyes and telling me “I love watching you do what you were meant to do, and that is impact people with your gifts.” I carry that with me at each and every event and pop up that I cook for and I hope to elevate the way people eat their vegetables by creating flavors as good for them as they are to them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Do smooth roads exist in entrepreneurship? I’m joking, but I am someone who had no advantages, no defined path, no start up capital, but I have a dream. I have a gift, a dream, and a passion for food that gave me the confidence to take this leap. Being a part of a business incubator program with an amazing foundation that is willing to meet us where we are and give us the tools and resources to flourish as business owners is so beneficial to me bridging the gap between just cooking for fun and love to becoming a formalized business and finding solutions to the many struggles there are to becoming an entrepreneur in this stage of life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own and operate a plant based food business that provides vegan and vegetarian comfort and soul food dishes with health and consciousness in mind without sacrificing what we all love most about food… flavor! My biggest star is my plant based bresket which transforms even the most carnivorous of people into open minded plant enthused foodies. My brand is about elevating the way we consume vegetables and the way that we perceive a diet and lifestyle when it comes to delicious food being healthy or unhealthy for not just our bodies but for the planet as a collective. The goal is to influence better living that impacts our planet and each other in the most positive ways possible. We do pop up events and love any opportunities for those. We offer private chef services, catering and general meals for any size customer and client catered to fit any needs and budgets.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I hold most of my audiences on Facebook and Instagram if that counts. I love Tabitha Brown and Martha Stewart lol. I haven’t found a specific book, blog or anything like that that I’d say stands out but I love reading and absorbing information in all forms so I’m always open to suggestions and cycling through random selections of my own.
