Exploring Life & Business with Bing Fu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bing Fu.

Hi Bing, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Although I did a little modeling when I was younger, I had zero experience with acting prior to the start of my career in 2016. I really got into it as a spur-of-the-moment decision when one of my agents was taking open submissions on social media. After that, I was able to land work fairly quickly and my career has been on an upward trajectory ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d say for the most part it’s been a smooth road. I’ve been very fortunate to have incredible reps who have continually raised the bar for me in terms of bigger and better jobs, and for that, I’m very grateful.

Probably the biggest struggle for me along the way has been balancing the life of being a father, partner, and employee with the rigorous demands of the entertainment industry.

Audition requests and bookings tend to happen on very short notice, so it’s always a scramble to make these things fit together.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve been a professional actor and model since 2016.

I began my career here in Knoxville acting in true crime re-enactment shows such as “Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda” and “Snapped”. I’ve also worked extensively as a commercial actor and model, with TV, print, and internet campaigns for clients such as Bank of America, Bose, Dollywood, Pilot/Flying J, TVA, Verizon, and many others.

So far my biggest roles to date have been in Marvel’s “Black Panther” and the Netflix series “Outer Banks”. I think what gives me a chance with any audition is my ability to fit into a wide variety of settings – father, professional, husband, detective, etc. I feel like I can play many roles in a convincing fashion.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I think I’ve been very lucky with my career, so I have to give credit to everyone around me who has made things seem so effortless – my family, my partner, my reps, my film friends, my coworkers on and off the set. They’ve all been a big part of my story so I’d like to give a big thanks to each and every one of them!
