Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Cooke.
Hi Sierra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started my journey as a Licensed Massage Therapist back in 2016. I worked for a few different spas until 2020. My daughter, Christa, who had severe disabilities after being shaken at three months old back in 2017, was placed on hospice care and passed away October 13th, 2020. This changed my life and my perspective of what I desired for my career. I felt I had spent too much time building other people’s dreams, and decided it was time for me to go after my own.
Flourish Therapeutic Massage opened in the Alma Diem building in West Knoxville by the end of October 2020. I ran my business as a solo LMT until March of 2021. In March, I hired our first employee to help us serve more clients. We now have two employees who work as licensed massage therapists. I am so thankful God provided the opportunity for me to become an entrepreneur and open my own massage therapy business. It has been life-changing and I’ve grown so much through this process.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For me, the biggest struggle has been the transition from employee to the business owner. I’ve had to do a lot of personal development along the way.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our massage practice focuses on therapeutic massage techniques such as deep tissue, medical massage, lymphatic drainage, sports massage, migraine relief, and improving digestion. We offer aromatherapy, hot stones, dry brushing, stretching, and cold stones as free add-ons to any massage service. Our online booking system makes it easy for our clients to book appointments.
What’s next?
Our plans for the future of Flourish Therapeutic Massage include: Expanding our team to serve more people, receiving continuing education in different massage modalities such as body contouring and Craniosacral therapy to give our clients more options, and opening a second location in a different area of Knoxville.
