Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Chambers.
Hi Rebecca Chambers, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our love for movement started at young ages with cheer and dance. We believe these experiences allowed us to connect with people through music in a group setting and that is where our passion began. Our fitness instruction began over 10 years ago with a variety of boutique fitness studios in the Knoxville & Nashville area. In 2020, during the peak of Covid, we ended up teaching and managing at the same studio. Fast forward to summer 2023 we began having conversations about what owning a studio together would look like and from there One Nation was born. One Nation refers to the inclusivity we hope to bring and the heartbeat that connects the E and the N refers to our motto, “music is the heartbeat of what we do”
One Nation launched in August of 2023 offering pop up fitness classes at a variety of venues in the Knoxville area to include parks, retail stores, breweries, etc. After a year of the pop up business, we opened a physical studio location in September of 2024 offering rhythmic spin & sculpt classes. We wanted to create a space which allowed multiple workouts under the same membership to include cardio and plus a low impact option. We believe in the power of building a community through movement with a shared interest in wellness.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
1. Desirable location
– It took us over a year to discover the perfect location. We intentionally wanted to be in an area that had demand for spin. We also wanted a location that had adequate and easy parking with great curb appeal and accessibility.
2. Connecting with the city of Farragut
– Building connections with other small business owners plus locals. The majority of our pop ups were located slightly east and downtown, so when we initially moved into our space it took additional outreach to begin the relationship building side of the business.
3. Learning city codes / regulations.
– The City of Farragut has specific codes & regulations that we were not familiar with. It took some troubleshooting and additional research to sort through the logistics.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
One Nation is a rhythmic spin & sculpt studio currently offering early morning and evening classes. Our sculpt classes reflect our take on barre / pilates that includes free standing and mat work. Sculpt is a full body low impact class that shapes & tones through a variety of postures. Our spin classes are the cardio half of One Nation. Spin is also full body but with a higher intensity focused on enhancing cardiovascular strength.
One Nation is known for its upbeat group fitness atmosphere centered around inclusivity. No matter the fitness level or experience, everyone is welcome! What sets us apart is our ability to take our workouts outside of the studio with mobile classes, our creative programming, and our ability to adapt to changes in our industry as they arise. We are most proud of the community we have built, a community that uplifts and empowers others!
