Hi Jodi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Jodi Mehlenbacher, a Nurse Practitioner who discovered my passion for aesthetics over a decade ago.
I spent some time in primary care and worked at the hospital for 6 years on a cardiothoracic step-down unit. I loved all of that, but aesthetics is my happy place.
Fueled by this passion that I found with aesthetics, I made the decision to pursue my dreams and venture into the aesthetics industry. After becoming certified, I noticed gaps in how a lot of aesthetic businesses were operating. Driven by that desire to create a different type of patient experience I took the courageous step to start my own practice and build a brand that treated patients the way that I would want to be treated.
Having no prior business experience or investors I successfully built my MedSpa from the ground up. I started completely from scratch, but now we are working 3 days a week and doing seven-figures annually. I believed that offering exceptional services and having reasonable prices ensured success, and it worked. Our patients were happy, and over the years, my practice has continued to grow thanks to the dedication of my team and loyalty of my patients. As my practice has flourished, I received numerous inquiries about how I managed to build such a successful business from the ground up. As I grew, other nurses and providers that I went to school with kept asking about what I’ve done, so in response, I created a consulting program that guides others through the entire process of building an aesthetic practice from scratch, or how to scale one if you are already in the industry.
It has been a wild ride, but I absolutely love what I get to do every single day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I always say, expect the unexpected. Nothing ever goes exactly as planned, and you have to be ready to pivot or adjust as needed. Knowing nothing about business or marketing was definitely a struggle in the beginning. It was a steep learning curve for sure. I tried a lot of different strategies before figuring out what worked for my business. I also believe in hiring what you don’t know, so for example, accounting or legal. I hired a great team, and they helped me manage as I grew.

Thrive Wellness is a Medical Spa located in Chattanooga, TN. Our team of certified professionals is dedicated to providing the highest quality of aesthetic services at incredible prices. Our providers are licensed, certified, and a leader in their field of practice. We focus on results-driven treatments that are customized to the patient’s specific area of concern. We strive to educate our patients on all treatment options so they can decide what is best for them. We are also a training facility, and patients appreciate being able to come in and be models for services or trainings. We encourage patients to come as they are and we will help them feel and look their best. We specialize in cosmetic injections, body contouring, skin resurfacing, microneedling, laser treatments, and much more.
I also launched Thrive Wellness Academy, where I teach others how to build or scale their own Medical Spa. It includes a comprehensive multi-module online course that is dedicated to providing medspa owners and aesthetic providers with the skills, tools, and techniques needed to elevate their practice, scale their business, or successfully launch. We value continuing education and collaborating with our other aesthetic providers.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing patients regain their confidence after treatments makes me truly happy. That makes me feel like I have accomplished my goal and provided the best service possible. It is always exciting when I see other providers I am training understand and perform a new injection technique and get excited about adding it to their skill set and services.
