Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Glass
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in East Knoxville/Strawberry Plains with my two sisters, my mom, dad, and grandmother. I graduated from Carter High School in 2019 and immediately jumped into college, pursuing a business degree. Music has always been my passion, so after graduation, I started working on a music career. I made music videos, performed at shows, including one in Atlanta, and built a solid following, all while maintaining strong grades in college and working two full-time jobs.
Then, in 2020, life threw me a curveball when COVID hit. My classes moved online, and without access to the tutoring center, I struggled with subjects like calculus and my grades began to slip. I decided to drop out, and around that time, my videographer moved to New York, so I took a break from music. It felt like everything was falling apart, but looking back, it was a blessing in disguise.
During that period, I discovered wholesaling real estate, but without the right education, I didn’t succeed at first. My dad saw my efforts and suggested I attend real estate school. I’d always loved homes and the different styles, so I agreed. From the moment I started, I knew real estate was the right career for me. The first class had me hooked, and I couldn’t wait to share everything I learned.
After passing the test, I started working with Wallace Real Estate. I quickly realized that being a realtor wasn’t as easy as social media makes it out to be, and success didn’t come right away. It took eight months to close my first sales, and there were definitely moments when I considered quitting, but I kept pushing. Eventually, I closed my first three sales in one month and closed many more after that, which allowed me to transition into real estate full-time.
Today, I’m on the Wallace Real Estate 2024 Leadership Council, I teach cold-calling classes to other agents, and I get to help people every day achieve their real estate goals. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I know I wouldn’t be where I am today if I’d given up when times were tough. My mission now is to inspire others to chase their dreams and work hard to achieve their goals, no matter how big or small.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting out in real estate at 20 was definitely a challenge. I was brand new to the business, with no accolades, competing against older agents who had far more experience. One of the biggest hurdles I faced was getting people to trust me—a 20-year-old—to facilitate one of the biggest transactions of their lives. But I overcame this by learning that real estate is not about sales; it’s about building relationships. At Wallace Real Estate, I was taught that clients don’t choose you because of your age—they choose you because they trust you, not just as a professional but as a friend.
Another challenge I faced was the transition from a 9-to-5 job, where there were clear consequences for not showing up or getting work done, to being my own boss. In real estate, I had complete freedom over my schedule and how I structured my day, which was both exciting and overwhelming at first. I quickly realized that I needed to develop self-discipline and hold myself accountable. If I didn’t meet my goals, there was no one else to answer to but myself. It was a big adjustment, but over time I learned to embrace the freedom while staying focused on my objectives.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One surprising thing that most people might not know about me is that I’m really into content creation. In addition to my work in real estate, I’m passionate about making music and sharing my personal journey. I have a YouTube channel where I document my day-to-day life, showing the behind-the-scenes of building my real estate business. It’s a way for me to connect with others, inspire those who are interested in real estate, and I really enjoy motivating people to chase their dreams. Many people know me for my real estate work, but not everyone realizes I’m also a content creator with a strong passion for both music and motivating others.
