Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Hembree Sharp.
Hi Erica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I earned my Degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 2016. My concentration was Family Medicine, but I knew I wanted to work in Plastics, Dermatology, or Aesthetics. I worked at Knoxville Dermatology and Dermatology Associates for a few years, then went out independently and founded Arabella Medical Aesthetics in 2019. I knew I wanted to have my practice when I graduated, and fortunately, that happened sooner than I had planned. I had one treatment room and did everything on my own in the beginning — scheduling, checking people in and out, ordering, and injecting. Now, I am so happy to say we have a more prominent location with multiple treatment rooms and an entire staff to help give our patients an even better experience than before! Our service menu has also grown to offer a full suite of lasers, facial services, and injectables. This year, we formulated and developed our skincare line, which we are excited about!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ownership has its challenges, and some days are smoother than others! Everything has been such a learning curve on the business side, and something always pops up. This industry constantly evolves, so we continue learning, training, and adding new tools to treat our patients best. Technology has been the biggest challenge, and using technology to provide a better patient experience is very important to me. Most of the past few years have been trial by fire, but we’ve built a great team here at Arabella, which has been extremely helpful in navigating all of the challenges of entrepreneurship.
I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Arabella Medical Aesthetics?
We are a Medical Aesthetics practice specializing in injectable services and skin rejuvenation. We offer neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), Filler, SkinVive, laser hair removal, laser hair restoration, laser facials, RF Microneedling, chemical peels, facials, and medical-grade skincare! What sets us apart is the time that we invest in each patient. We have longer appointments to get to know you and develop a customized treatment plan that best suits your skin health goals. I am most proud of our skincare line right now. We have worked hard to create these products and get them into our patients’ hands. It is such a fantastic feeling seeing our patients love our very own skincare line!
Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
If I have any free time (which doesn’t happen often because I have two young children!), I like to follow leaders in the Aesthetics industry on Instagram, attend conferences, and read medical journals. I am a big nerd when it comes to medical journals and research! I love reading about new studies in the Aesthetics industry.
