Daily Inspiration: Meet Rielle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rielle.

Hi Rielle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have done art my whole life. However, I started taking it seriously around 6th grade when a family friend, a fellow artist, helped me hone my skill to apply to the local art school back in my hometown. I was enrolled at said art school for the freshman year of high school, before moving to the States, and soon after starting my social media career. I started out on Tik Tok with some short, silly videos of paintings, some trends, etc. I ran an instagram account for my art on the side, but didn’t take either too serious for a while. Then around 2020 I think I started doing commissions, and have been doing so since! I also started taking social media more seriously the last year or so in particular.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not the smoothest. I have gotten really lucky in terms of opportunities and experiences, but that doesn’t mean that my own self discovery and trials as a freelance artist have been easy. The fast paced expectations of social media, the speed at which artists are seemingly expected to put out work, it becomes exhausting and very demotivating more often than not. As someone who struggles with ADHD and just naturally works a bit slower, it becomes exhausting, and more like a chore at times rather than something fun or enjoyable. Nonetheless, while demotivating, I would not trade what I do for most things.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a freelance artist focusing on digital work. I mostly specialize in character illustration, semi-realistic/stylized works of original characters, dnd characters, as well as occasional fanart. I think mostly what’s recognizable about my work is my style in particular. I believe I have a style that is unique to me and my work, with a good understanding of anatomy that shows in my character arts! And thanks to that, I am proud of just about anything I post online, since it is all something I put effort and patience and love into at the end of the day.

How do you define success?
I think success is a concept everyone thinks of differently. For me, success is being able to do what I do for a living without worrying about my financial situation. Success is being able to afford living just from art. But success is whatever makes you feel happy and content in the end.
