Daily Inspiration: Meet Kelsey Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Miller.

Kelsey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I love all things fashion and organizing! I have been organizing, styling, and personal shopping for friends and family for a decade now. Since graduating with a Fashion Merchandising degree I have been a stylist, buyer, and fashion sales representative for various companies.

When the pandemic happened in 2020, I was traveling as a sales rep, but could not travel due to the shutdown. I started getting calls from family and friends that were stuck at home and were in desperate need of getting organized.

That is when Klosets by Kelsey took off and I quit my job to pursue my dream. Now, through my work with clients, I have experienced how our space affects our minds, bodies, and spirits. I love seeing spaces and spirits transformed!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey of starting my business has been smoothish. There will always be bumps in the road, but I learn and grow from those struggles. For me working with my clients is the easy part, however doing social media, accounting, marketing, and using business software is not my forte.

I am learning so much about how to better my business with help from my clients, family, and friends.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in organizing, styling, and personal shopping. I have been in retail since I was 15 and I loved it! Styling and shopping for my clients while in retail was the best experience because they would look in the mirror and feel good about themselves. After college, I was a junior buyer, manager, and stylist for a boutique.

Clients would come to me about how their closet was a mess and would love for me to organize it for them. That is when I helped start the closet organizing service for the boutique, which they still use to this day. I would say starting the organizing and personal shopping services is something I am most proud of because it was a stepping stone for me to start my own business.

I think what sets me apart from others is that Klosets by Kelsey offers multiple services that are tailored for the client’s specific needs. Another service I offer is hauling off my client’s donations to local charities for people in need. That really helps my clients purge items knowing that it is going to someone who needs it.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think my business will continue to expand. Due to the exposure of the organizing industry by TV shows and social media. Shows like Marie Kondo and the Home Edits have really helped my business. The more people that are exposed to the benefits of being organized, the more likely they will be willing to use my services.
