Today we’d like to introduce you to Chasity Turbeville. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Local stay-at-home mom turned “Mompreneur.”
Chasity Turbeville of Maryville, TN opened her breastmilk jewelry company, Little Foots Jewelry. In May 2020. Despite starting her small business during a global pandemic, Little Foots Jewelry has made its name as one of the best Breastmilk Jewelry companies on the market.
She states her journey to becoming a self-made entrepreneur started during her early motherhood stage of life.
“I have two boys, both of which I breastfed, but both have two very different stories. With my first son, I struggled with my new role as a mama, & suffered from PPD, as many of us women do. It was a learning curve, & breastfeeding didn’t come easy. I made it to six months before switching to formula.
With my second son, it came more naturally. I breastfed him for 18 months. I named my business after my first baby boy. His nickname is Little Foot.
As a new mom, it’s easy to lose your identity in the never-ending role of motherhood. I wanted to find purpose in this beautiful journey we call life. I was a person before I became a mom, & that person matters too. I thank God for the many blessings & the desire he has laid on my heart to do greater things in this life. My job isn’t just “making jewelry.”
It’s about giving the grieving mother a sense of comfort during the most difficult time of her life, allowing mothers to celebrate their hard work & determination on their breastfeeding journey. It’s about taking life’s most precious memories & making them into a beautiful keepsake to cherish for years to come!”
Little Foots Jewelry also makes Cremation Jewelry serve as a token of remembrance of a lost loved one, Breastmilk Jewelry to represent the special bond between mother & baby, and Resin Keepsakes for anyone who just wants something beautiful to wear that can hold any inclusions.
I have made jewelry for mothers using their babies’ formula in place of breastmilk, memorial pieces with funeral flowers & clothing, jewelry made from a beloved family pet gone too soon, & even sand from a couple’s honeymoon I have made into a beautiful keepsake!
My hobby has blossomed & grew into a successful business. It’s now my career. Every customer & purchase made is fueling my desire & dreams even further. I am blessed!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a self made entrepreneur, I started from the bottom. I knew nothing about opening a business, let alone, trying to run a successful one while raising two toddlers!
Every day is a learning experience. But I refuse to give up on my dream. I make it work! There were many, many long nights and tears cried. Before my babies started preschool, I would work in my home office from midnight – 4 am in between nightly feedings every single night for the whole first year of business.
Let me tell you. It gives the phrase “tired as a mother” a whole new meaning.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I handcraft Breastmilk Jewelry & Cremation Keepsakes. I specialize in commemorating your breastfeeding journey into jewelry you can cherish forever.
Little Foot’s Jewelry turns life’s most precious memories into beautiful keepsake jewelry! My line of work is a “work of heart.”
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Before officially starting my business, I did lots & lots of research on marketing & ways to get my name out there. I can’t offer much advice as I’m just in my second year of business & still learning every day!
But I will say social media has been a great asset in helping my small business get seen. I’m very old school and don’t know all the hacks but that’s what has helped me so far!
