Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Cooper
Hi Kayla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always had a love for ultrasound sonography. I graduated as president and at the top of my class in Tampa, FL. After I received my degree in medical diagnostic ultrasound sonography, I took my boards and became a ARDMS registered sonographer certified in 5 different fields including OBGYN. I have always had a love for the OB world. My love for this field grew when I became pregnant last year with my first child. I loved going to my ultrasound appointments, but seeing my baby once every 3 months just wasn’t enough. Due to my career, I was able to scan him anytime I wanted. I was able to watch him grow from a little peanut to a full size baby! I wanted to give this opportunity to every mom in my area, so I created Itty Bitty Ultrasounds.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a good plan and a support system has made a world of difference. Starting a business comes with its expected challenges. As a business owner, you need to be resilient and consistent. Finding the right machine and best vendors to work with was a bit of trial and error. I was contemplating if I should open up my studio before or after my son was born. After some answered prayers, we proceeded with opening our studio while pregnant in October of 2023. Within a few short months of extensive networking, word of mouth and advertising, our business was quickly established and accepted in the community. The biggest challenge I deal with today is juggling being a mom and a business owner. It’s a learning process, but with the help from my husband, we have a great routine and I’m able to succeed in both jobs!

We are also excited to announce that we recently purchased a brand new ultrasound machine with top of the line image quality!

Itty Bitty Ultrasounds is also the creator of Bumps and Beyond Expo. Being pregnant and trying to prepare for baby’s arrival can be overwhelming. I organized this expo last fall of 2023 to help out all moms with prenatal and postnatal resources they could find in under one roof. The expo was such a success and there was so many requests to bring this expo back, I decided to make it an annual event. The best part, it has a free admission and also offers free educational classes for moms.
This expo is designed for mothers in any stage of motherhood, not just pregnancy and postpartum stages. At Bumps and Beyond, you will find educational classes and seminars going on every 20-30 mins ranging from happy kids yoga, how to prep your body for birth, breastfeeding, overcoming the baby blues mental health, finding the power of mom brain, sleep safe class, transitioning from bottles to solids, 4th trimester, newborn care class, and a child developmental class.
