Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackson Greene.

Jackson Greene

Hi Jackson, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Growing up, I was always fascinated by technology. My passion initially manifested as playing on the family computer and creating YouTube videos about Rubik’s Cubes! However, at around 12 years old, I started volunteering in our church’s media department, which became the place where I fell in love with creative media. Over the next 5 years, I progressed from running a lightboard to operating a camera, manning the projectors, and volunteering with the church website and social media. As a teenager, I was hooked on media. The summer before my senior year at Maryville High School, the church’s full-time Director of Media Ministries was called to a new position outside the church. Subsequently, the church leadership offered me his former position, which I gratefully accepted. I officially joined the staff team as the Director of Media Ministries at 17 years old. Through that position, I was blessed to receive an enormous amount of real-world experience in technology and leadership, which solidified my desire to continue working in media. After graduating from Maryville High School the following year, I left my position at the church to pursue a degree in Interactive Media from Middle Tennessee State University.

During my first semester at MTSU, I worked with a Maryville-based luxury home builder as their Director of Marketing, another exciting opportunity to work on my craft. After working with them for a few months, they encouraged me to begin my agency and take them on as my first client. Initially, entrepreneurship had never piqued my interest. However, with their guidance and encouragement, I launched my digital marketing firm halfway through my first year of college. On January 1, 2021, Pursuit Digital was officially incorporated. Pursuit Digital’s name stems from our brand verse, 1 Timothy 6:11, which states, “But you, a man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.” Following the business’s launch, I began taking on new clients immediately, all while still studying at MTSU. Initially, my focus was solely on web development, but I quickly learned that my clientele appreciated a full-service approach to their marketing. Because of that realization, by February, I had expanded my offerings to include social media, video production, and brand marketing.

After expanding my services, my first big opportunity came when the board of directors at Maryville City Schools Foundation approached me about producing their virtual fundraising event, the 2021 Starlight Gala. I was grateful for the opportunity but knew how big of an undertaking it would be. Their annual gala was responsible for raising the vast majority of the foundation’s donations for the year- and this was their first time going virtual due to Covid restrictions. After working tirelessly with their team, I am pleased to say that we produced a wildly successful evening- raising over $100,000 on the night for the children in Maryville City. Our team was asked to return the following two years (and we are already prepping for next year!) Since then, we have raised over 500K alongside MCSF, with the most recent event being their all-time record for funds raised. Because of the success of the 2021 virtual gala, I was able to scale our operations, hiring our video crew for the first time that summer and bringing on our first employee that fall.

Throughout the next two years, I continued to grow the agency while still earning my degree at MTSU. During those two years, we worked with dozens of businesses, ministries, and non-profit organizations to help them pursue their goals. Relationships are the foundation of everything we stand for at Pursuit Digital, meaning that we will always focus on supporting the people we have the pleasure of working with. We like to say that “OUR mission is YOUR mission.”

In May of 2023, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Interactive Media, married the love of my life Samantha, and moved back to East Tennessee. In June, we closed on a new office space for Pursuit Digital in West Knoxville, allowing us to serve our clients better and grow relationships.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Starting and operating a business while being a full-time student came with many challenges. I became accustomed to making the 3-hour trek from Murfreesboro to Knoxville to meet with clients and attend shoots. I am blessed to have a wonderful team who helped carry the load and support our clients, but finding time for everything was difficult. I am very grateful to be in Knoxville full-time, which takes away much of the agency’s struggle.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pursuit Digital is a full-service digital marketing agency focusing on web design, social media, and video production. Most of our clients work with us on multiple projects, as we pride ourselves on being a one-stop shop and building client relationships. We work with everything from non-profits to multi-million dollar businesses, helping them achieve different facets of their marketing. Our objective is to provide excellent service while building relationships. People always come before profits, and we structure everything we do to benefit all parties involved. We create and tailor customized packages and plans for each client to ensure they get the best for their unique needs. Our purpose is to make an impact through digital marketing. Relationships are the focus of who we are and what we stand for. Our mission is to empower your mission. We accomplish this by providing every client with the tools they need to showcase the best of their brand. Above all else, we serve others through creativity. Ultimately, our “why” is to create a Kingdom impact through providing excellent service while building relationships. We truly try to reflect the principles of 1 Timothy 6:11, which calls us to pursue the things of God.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Networking is all about putting yourself in a position to build a relationship with others. If you go into networking opportunities to get something from someone or sell them something, you will likely miss the real opportunity or connect. Be in the business of people before anything else.
