Hi Abbi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was 16, I started working in retail and fell in love with it! It is not the clothes I love, it’s the environment! I love making women feel beautiful and confident in their bodies! Everybody is beautiful! My favorite thing to do is help women put an outfit together and feel confident in their clothes! I was the shyest person in the room, and my first retail job was at Josie’s Boutique! They taught me to step out of my comfort zone and be there for customers! I also worked at Gracie Lee’s Gifts and More, and they taught me a lot about the business side of the boutique world! I am so grateful for both job opportunities to show me and get me where I am today! I have been in the process of getting a storefront for a year now! I have been online since September and can not wait to interact with customers. This has been a dream of mine since I was 13 years old, and I am so excited and overjoyed it is finally all coming together!
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This road has not been smooth in the slightest! I have faced obstacles along the way, and that’s for sure! Like I said previously, I’ve been in the process of opening a storefront for a year now! I have had some setbacks. I have had to figure out ways to sell inventory, and I ran a pop-up shop 1-2 times a month since September in the parent’s garage! My dad had a man cave and we transformed it into a women’s shop for the last few month! They have been so gracious to me while going through all these obstacles!

At Southern Valley, we want everyone to feel welcome and beautiful! We carry jewelry, shoes, and clothing for all age groups! Our goal is to make every woman feel beautiful when they are in our store. Our customers are waiting, keeping us going and making us happiest. We want more than just customers. We want to feel like you are shopping with a friend. We want you to leave with a smile on your face!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
Starting a business takes work! I am just beginning, and it has its hardships. With that being said, the difficulties also come with rewards! With every hardship, there should be a reward that makes it all work!
