Hi Aayush, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed that great engineering isn’t just about electricity—it’s about empowering people and places to function safely, efficiently, and beautifully.
My name is Aayush Patel, and I’m an Electrical Engineer who started his journey working hands-on in the field—testing, troubleshooting, and launching manufacturing production lines. Also, worked on everything from transformers and switchgear to large motors and power systems. Those early years taught me not just the science of electricity, but the art of solving problems with precision and reliability.
In 2022, I founded Alpha9 Electric, with a vision to bring professional, customer-focused electrical services to homes and businesses across Tennessee. What started as a small service company has grown into a trusted name for residential and commercial electrical work—from new construction wiring, panel upgrades, and repairs, to lighting design and electrical troubleshooting.
Over time, we expanded into security camera installations, helping homeowners, restaurants, gas stations, hotels, convention centers, and other businesses feel safer and more connected. Alpha9 Electric became known for being reliable, responsive, and personal—a company built on trust and quality craftsmanship.
Then came the next step. In 2023, I founded AK&J Electric, a company dedicated to the industrial side of power. At AK&J, we design and manufacture UL 891 switchgear and UL 508A industrial control panels, serving clients across the U.S. We also provide testing and commissioning services for low and medium voltage systems, along with transformer and motor testing, breaker retrofitting, relay coordination studies, and complete electrical engineering design support.
Both companies were born from the same vision—to combine engineering excellence with real-world service. Today, through Alpha9 Electric and AK&J Electric, I’m proud to serve both the homeowner who needs a safe, reliable electrical system, and the industrial client powering an entire operation.
At the heart of it all, my goal remains simple: to build systems that power people’s lives with safety, quality, and trust.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all — but every challenge has been a lesson that shaped me and my businesses.
When I started Alpha9 Electric in 2022, I had the skills and the drive, but building a brand from the ground up was far from easy. I was managing everything—quoting jobs, ordering materials, handling calls, and doing the actual electrical work. Competing with larger, established companies meant I had to earn trust one project at a time. Getting visibility online, finding dependable technicians, and balancing quality with affordability were all real challenges in the early days.
Then, with AK&J Electric in 2023, the challenges took on a new scale. Getting UL 891 and UL 508A certifications, setting up a manufacturing workflow, and building relationships with suppliers and engineers required patience, precision, and persistence. There were moments of uncertainty—tight deadlines, delayed shipments, and long nights ensuring everything met compliance standards.
But through every obstacle, I learned that consistency and integrity always pay off. Each setback became an opportunity to improve our systems and strengthen our reputation. Today, both Alpha9 and AK&J stand as proof that when you stay focused on quality, honesty, and customer satisfaction—the road may not be smooth, but it’s absolutely worth it.

AK&J Electric was born from a simple vision — to combine engineering precision with dependable craftsmanship. Founded in 2023, we specialize in industrial electrical systems, focusing on manufacturing UL 891 switchgear and UL 508A industrial control panels built for safety, performance, and reliability.
What truly sets AK&J apart is our end-to-end capability — we don’t just build equipment; we engineer complete power solutions. From designing and assembling low-voltage switchgear to testing and commissioning medium-voltage systems, transformers, and motors in the field, we handle every detail with the same care and technical depth.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’ve always believed that learning never stops — especially in an industry as dynamic as electrical engineering. I often refer to Electrical Engineering Portal (EEP) and similar technical blogs that share real-world insights on power systems, protection, and automation. They’ve been a huge help in staying updated with the latest technologies, testing methods, and design practices.
Beyond the technical side, I’m also a big fan of personal development books. They’ve helped me build the right mindset to lead teams, manage challenges, and stay grounded while growing multiple businesses. I believe strong personal discipline and leadership go hand-in-hand with technical excellence.
I’ve also learned a great deal from observing and collaborating with other companies — especially Parth Electricals & Engineering in India. Their work ethic, engineering quality, and attention to detail have been a big source of inspiration in shaping how I run AK&J Electric and Alpha9 Electric today.
Continuous learning, staying curious, and drawing inspiration from others are what keep me evolving — both as an engineer and as an entrepreneur.
