Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom & Amy Larson.
Hi Tom & Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Purposed Marriage is a Christian-based ministry located in Knoxville, Tennessee dedicated to husbands and wives finding themselves in troubled or broken marriages. Our goal is to unite the hurting and offer Biblical hope and encouragement. Our message is simple: God can and does heal even when all hope seems lost.
After ten years of marriage, the toll of stress, work, lack of communication, and pride, left our marriage in a precarious state. Inevitably, the foundations crumbled, and our marriage journey appeared over as divorce became a painful reality. But God, in His perfect timing, softened our hardened hearts and through miraculous circumstances restored love and created a oneness that only He could.
As Isaiah 46:11 reads, “… I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.” We believe Christ “purposed” all our circumstances to ultimately bring glory to Himself. We pray that our story encourages others to stand and persevere in their marriages.
No situation or relationship is beyond the power of God to heal and restore.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our marriage journey was not an easy one. We were separated and divorced for nearly two years before our marriage was reconciled.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In our society, so many give up hope on their spouse and don’t put in the effort to walk through the difficult times. We encourage those in hurting or broken marriages to work through their issues.
Oftentimes, it’s our perspective that needs to change and not necessarily the marriage. We are most rewarded when we can speak truth and life into others’ lives and offer them the same hope God has given us in our marriage.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We encourage those looking for counseling to search the ACBC website for a certified biblical counselor in their area. We also strongly encourage finding a church with a DivorceCare program.
My husband and I are leaders in our church’s DivorceCare class at West Park Baptist Church.
