Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Thiele.
Hi Todd, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Norris Lake Protection Alliance “NLPA” was founded to preserve the natural beauty and health of Norris Lake. The NLPA is a 501c3 tax exempt organization, and our Team members are all volunteers.
Our early activities focused on water testing in predetermined locations of the Norris watershed. Our efforts expanded to promote riparian shoreline strips of native deep rooted grasses that filter runoff, and mitigate erosion. We also distribute information supporting proper boat and trailer management to prevent the transfer of invasive species. At the request of Norris community residents we began removing abandoned houseboats, boats, and large pieces of floating debris. We also are involved in yearly shoreline cleanup efforts. The NLPA has recently established an alliance with Norris Lake Litter Gitter. The joint business alliance enhances our surface debris removal efforts.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Helping the Norris community learn about the NLPA and why financially supporting our efforts are in the best interest of all residents has been a journey. Being 100% donation and volunteer based has its challenges. We are thankful for the support we have enjoyed to date.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I began my career in the refrigeration/air-conditioning field. I became involved in Building Automation in its infancy and spent the better part of 40 years delivering solutions to our customers. I was blessed to have worked with many talented and highly skilled Team Members throughout my career. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I lead the corporate safety initiative. I’m proud to have given back to those who are still supporting our customers. I take the most pride in our family.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I grew up on a dairy farm and my structured education began in a two room country school house.
