The Band, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Band Solstice began in 2019 when five friends—Marty Gee, Grayson Strader, Maddox Frazier, Jackson Frazier, and Jacob Greene—turned their shared love of music into something bigger. Hailing from Knoxville, TN, the group started by playing local bars and restaurants, steadily building a loyal following. After graduating high school, they carried their dream to the University of Tennessee, where their music quickly resonated with the campus community. Their debut single, Stay Awhile, released in 2022, and they have been regularly releasing music since then, garnering hundreds of thousands of streams. By early 2024, they had established Knoxville as their home base and decided to embark on their first tour, The Mile Dive Tour, playing to packed venues and College campuses across the Southeast. Their hometown pride culminated in a sold-out show at The Pilot in Knoxville. With heartfelt lyrics, electrifying performances, and a chemistry rooted in years of friendship, The Band Solstice continues to emerge in the indie rock scene. Their self titled debut album is planned to be released this coming year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In their early days, the band often struggled to be taken seriously as young musicians and encountered obstacles securing opportunities to play certain venues due to age restrictions. Finding and honing their unique sound was another key hurdle, requiring countless hours of experimentation and collaboration. As full-time college students, balancing academics with a demanding schedule of shows, rehearsals, and recording sessions continues to test their time management skills. Despite these challenges, the band’s commitment and passion for their music have allowed them to adapt and thrive, making their journey all the more rewarding.

The Band Solstice brings high energy performances with intentional crowd interaction rooted in a passion for creating music. All five original members: Marty Gee, Grayson Strader, Maddox Frazier, Jackson Frazier, and Jacob Greene have grown up together and share a brotherly relationship through day-to-day life as well as through writing and producing music and art. The Band Solstice intends to bring peace and love to their fans and create music that leaves an impact on people’s lives.
