Hi Melissa , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My obsession with hair bows started last year! I’m that mom who was always buying hair bows to match my daughter’s outfits! The only caveat was that the hair bows I was buying from retail stores were not made to last. I was noticing that they would fall apart after being used only a few times! I was sick of wasting money, so I decided I would learn to make my own hair bows! This is when Melissa’s Whimsical Bowtique got started! I found out that I could purchase durable high quality ribbon in any design and color that I could ever imagine! I also found a technique in making the bows that makes them durable and unlike any bows you will get from retail shops! I can customize hair bows to my customers liking and I have made many themed bows including but not limited to Valentines Day themed, Easter themed, 4th of July themed, back to school themed, St. Patrick’s Day themed, Tennessee Vols themed, Birthday themed, Summer themed, Fall themed, Christmas themed, and I even make school spirit and cheer bows! The patterns and themes are endless! Each bow is made with love and let’s just say I love accessories; what girl doesn’t! My Bowtique is on social media and I can be reached via email or messenger on my social media pages! I have done many pop ups as a vendor!
In addition to making bows, I am also a Family Nurse Practitioner! Prior to obtaining my Masters Degree, I worked as a Registered Nurse for 12 years!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say that it has overall been a smooth road. Of course there is trial and error with any craft and you learn from your mistakes and improve your technique as you go! I would have to say my experience has been nothing short of positive!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Professionally, I am a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner! I love caring for my patients and their families! I am proud to say that I graduated with honors from Georgetown University and I even underwent an Emergency Medicine Residency program back in Florida!
My personal business is in hand crafting hair bows for women and firms of all ages! I can also make bows for or any other needs that my clients have such as weddings, crafts, etc!
I am extremely proud of how far I have come and I give God all the glory because I couldn’t have done it without him!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I am detail oriented, outgoing, adventurous, and very creative!! This has been a huge asset in my professional and personal life! I also don’t give up when things get tough! Perseverance is key!
