Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Ramey.
Hi Madison , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Madison of MadrPaints murals!
I’m a full time artist mainly focused on murals but I also do professional face painting!
I have painted 74 murals all over the SWVA and East TN! Large to small! Our largest being 320ft long!
I started 3 1/2 years ago with no art experience just doodling cartoon characters for my toddler. I decided to try painting and really enjoyed it. Small paintings turned into larger ones. Then I was contacted to do a mural! Once I did my first I haven’t stopped! It sparked something in me I never knew was there and I’ve been growing and developing ever since!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have thankfully had a very enjoyable and loving career! All of my clients are so wonderful and supportive! To be a part of people’s homes, businesses, and lives is something I truly cherish. I can genuinely say I have made some wonderful friends from doing this that I wouldn’t of met otherwise!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think what sets me apart is how much I really care about the place I’m painting and the clients I have. When I’m painting in a town I dive in and try to fully engage with the people of the area and create something beautiful and wonderful that will be loved! To me murals aren’t just paint on a wall. It truly is a passion for me. We have been lucky enough to donate murals to special causes. One we did in Erwin after hurricane Helen hit and we had towns people coming up to us in tear just expressing that it gave them home and brightened the town in that time. It’s not just a job to me.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories are all at my grandmas house! Being outside 24/7, learning to cook, and exploring creativity! My grandma has always encouraged us to be creative in whatever way possible! My grandpa was also an artist so maybe it comes from him!
