Check Out Lisa Caprelli’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Caprelli.

Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I created Unicorn Jazz as an entertaining way to teach children about reading, writing, music, dancing, and imagination using social-emotional learning concepts. Unicorn Jazz represents the importance of being unique, belonging, believing in others, kindness and happiness.

As a Latina entrepreneur and author of 19 books and counting, I am grateful to realize my dream of being a writer and creative director, and songwriter of over ten songs.

Growing up poor and shy, my grandmother encouraged me to get an education and inspired me to grow up and help others. I have a soft spot in my heart for teens and children, after all, they are our future and we were once them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a child, if you would have told me, I’d grow up to create stories, songs, and entertaining content for kids, I could not even have imagined what that would look like.

I have had so many struggles, from going up poor, feeling like I didn’t belong, moving to California from Texas with nothing but $100, and figuring out how to become an entrepreneur… I have had relationship struggles and have really learned a lot. My faith and growth in God have helped me overcome and persevere. I am grateful for discovering my gifts along the way as well as my sisters, family, and friends who have been part of my growth.

I have learned that love and kindness are important in every aspect of your life. It is important to work and be a peacemaker in any given situation. Time is promised to no one, and I hope to be a catalyst in some small way to people.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I thank God daily for giving me the wisdom and opportunities to use my gifts of writing, storytelling, creating, inspiring, and teaching.

Time is promised to no one and I treasure the days ahead and the glory of each new day. With that said, one day when I do leave this Earth, I am joyful for leaving behind a legacy of goodness, kindness, and love.

We all have different talents, skill sets, and the ability to impact others in a positive way. I pray that I can help influence as many kids and adults as possible to help and give back to others.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?

UNICORN JAZZ is a story that has many lessons. School librarians, parents, and educators have shared just how much their classes enjoy the messages of being unique, teaching emotional intelligence, and engaging in conversations for boys and girls. “I am different and that’s awesome,” has been a top takeaway. Unicorn Jazz has made a mission to create and share meaningful stories that evoke communication and conversations for children whereby parents, grandparents, and educators can come together to build a strong, positive global community.

She enjoys writing, teaching, and researching to create a culture of communication, fulfillment, and happiness. This leads back to her inquisitive nature of understanding human behavior to improve personal or business relationships. “Interviewing people and learning about their successes, experiences and struggles have always been fascinating to me because we have the capacity as human beings to be and do more than we ever thought possible by drawing from other people’s perspectives.”

When she is not writing or serving the community, Caprelli makes the moments matter with family, friends, and adventure. She likes to paint and loves outdoor activities like hiking, backpacking, camping, and painting.
