Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Wood.
Hi Kelsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been interested in photography, but my love of photography took a backseat once I entered college. I choose to major in accounting out of a desire for a stable job. I even went on to get a masters in accounting from UTK and my CPA designation.
A couple years into my public accounting career, I realized how poorly I’d chosen. I’m a naturally creative person and accounting was decidedly not for me. I craved work that was unique, meaningful, and beautiful.
I remembered my childhood love of photography and started to research what a career as a photographer could actually look like.
I dove in and I haven’t looked back! I continued to work as a CPA while growing my business until the Fall of 2023 when I finally quit my day job to be a full time photographer!
When I started my business in 2020, I was photographing everything from graduating seniors to branding sessions. I enjoyed all of it, but I really fell in love with maternity and lifestyle newborn photography – so that’s what I focus on now. My favorite offering is my bump to baby packages that capture maternity, newborn, 6 month, and 1 year. I’ve recently started offering wall art and albums so I can serve my clients better!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not. There are a lot of photographers and finding a way to stand out is a constant challenge.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in maternity and newborn photography. I’d say I’m becoming known for my bump to baby packages and I’m working on becoming known for custom wall art and album design as well. I’m most proud of the relationship I’ve built with moms as their families grow. When they come back for a bump to baby package for their second child or return year after year for family photos – that means the world to me.
