Check Out André Wilkerson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to André Wilkerson

Hi André, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My friend, Justin, played a big part in introducing me to the industry. He connected me with the Stair Agency and from there, things started moving quickly. I think my look and personality helped me stand out early on, and that opened the door to a lot of gigs right away. As I worked on more and more projects, I started building connections, meeting people who believed in my talent and it helped me find new opportunities. Casting directors became familiar with who I am and started reaching out to me directly for roles, which has been a game changer. That steady momentum has really brought me to where I am today in my career.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road. Of course, there have been times where I didn’t get cast for roles I really wanted. There are times I’ve had to turn down some amazing opportunities for various reasons. But honestly, those decisions led me to even greater opportunities. Thankfully, I haven’t encountered any rude talent and only a handful of rude crew members. Haha. Overall, I feel really fortunate because I’ve been able to maintain control over my career and how far I want to take things. That sense of direction has kept me motivated and focused.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have the job of pretending to be someone I’m not and making it believable. The best job! Haha. As an actor, I specialize in drama, which allows me to dive deep into emotional and thought-provoking stories. I’m probably best known for my work in the stage play Justice On Trial, Milo’s commercials, Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas movie, and the project Fresh Meat: Jeffrey Dahmer, among others. What I’m most proud of is my ability to stay relevant and consistently working after three years in the industry. I think what sets me apart is my charisma and personality. I bring an energy to my roles and to the people I work with that leaves a lasting impression.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see film and television evolving even more in the next 5 to 10 years. We will see more use of AI to work projects. It will help and hurt creativity. You know, there’s good and bad to everything. But it will never replace the raw emotions and organicness, if that’s even a word, the organicity of a real person. That human connection is something technology just can’t replicate.
