Rising Stars: Meet Kiana Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Thomas.

Hi Kiana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The Dream Bar started when I began my journey of self-healing. Throughout college, I struggled silently with depression and wasn’t aware of it until the panic attacks began. At rock bottom, I knew I didn’t want to live the rest of my life like that. I was fighting for my life, and I realized there were many others like me struggling with the same things.

I put together wellness challenges for people to participate in and grow, but when the pandemic began everything was put on pause. People were losing jobs, and afraid to make any commitments. That’s when the idea came for The Dream Bar. I wanted to create a wellness experience through skincare products. My skincare routine was always a part of my self-healing journey. Aromatherapy products helped lift my mood, and I always felt better while doing my skincare routine. I wanted others to feel the same.

The Dream Bar was created in my efforts to heal myself and help others on their healing journey. Our mission is to create a space where beauty and wellness can collide. In under a year, I’ve sold hundreds of products across the country and helped educate women about wellness and their healing journey. This year, along with new products, I plan to host wellness seminars, start back my challenges, and create a membership group for women to gather and heal together.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest struggle I’ve faced building my business has been seeking mentorship, community, and support from other entrepreneurs. I think this is mostly due to starting a business in the midst of a pandemic. Most mentorships have been virtual and zoom fatigue definitely got the best of me. It’s been hard trying to find community in a virtual space, and I think that’s something everyone is beginning to figure out.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Outside of formulating products, I am also a content creator and brand designer. My love for graphic design started as a kid and was used throughout college whether I was making flyers for my job or designing PowerPoints for my Kindergarten lessons.

I recently began offering my web design to the public and plan to continue learning and growing. I currently specialize in brand and web design, helping others create social media content. I am most proud of helping other businesses start their passion products and I hope to continue helping others reach their dreams.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Anyone with inquiries can reach out to me by email at thedreambarllc@gmail.com. I am open to chatting about future collaborations! I would love to collab with other wellness brands in creating a self-care box or bringing on a therapist to speak about mental health at an event. Additionally, the best way to support is by visiting my Instagram @thedreambarllc or of course grabbing some goodies on our website! www.thedreambar.org.
