Today we’d like to introduce you to Duck .
Hello Duck, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Duck is a culmination of four musicians from all over Tennessee (Knoxville, Nashville, and Clarksville). We were born out of previous bands that decided to combine into one. Our goal has always been to play good music and have fun doing it. Through playing for fraternities across the South East and restaurants like Back Door Tavern and Union Place, we have become experienced in the art of entertainment, acquiring shows from one gig to the next.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been relatively smooth. There were struggles with finding the right combination of members, equipment breaking, and school schedules, but we have managed to push through that and play numerous shows together.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Our job is to give people a good show so they may forget about life for a moment and just let loose. Being experienced musicians from previous and current groups helped us hone our skills faster in Duck. We’ve all been on stage more than we can count, and we know what people like and dislike in a show—especially the music. We’re proud to have come so far in our few months together. We’ve learned about 40 technically very tough songs for any band. Our ace in the hole is that we can play Free Bird when the audience shouts it at us. It’s like fulfilling their wish in the best way. Making the songs ours, though, is what makes us unique. We pour our hearts and souls out on every stage we play.
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
Luck plays a big role in the music scene. It’s all about who you know. Luckily we’re all still very young, so we know lots of people through socializing and coming from varying backgrounds. There are a lot of factors that could be considered luck, but perseverance and being purposeful in what you do is important as well and can get you more of what you want.
