Today we’d like to introduce you to David Alan.
Hi David, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey there! My name is David Alan! Back when I was younger, in the early stages of being a musician, I used to go downtown to market square and busk with a buddy of mine! We did this for 3 years straight! We wanted to start gigging, so we created the Shaydes! We wanted to do purely 50s and 60s rock and roll! It was really cool! Later on down the line, I met Trey Wilson! This guy is a literal protegy on the guitar! He had a different musical background than I did, so when he joined, he had to learn some of our stuff! I had to learn some of his! A few months down the line, we added Gavin Gillete, our new drummer, into the group! Our music quickly changed from there! We started playing harder music and started playing bigger crowds! The three of us, Gavin, Trey and I, play in a group on the side called Alex and the Animals! It’s really awesome being able to work on multiple projects with the people who are closest to you! We recently started working on original material! We can’t wait to see what happens next!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We recently had a bumpy couple of months when we transitioned to a new drummer, but things worked out. We usually work through obstacles with ease! I wouldn’t wanna work with anyone else!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a martial arts instructor at the Wheeler Academy! I’m basically a private bouncer for the boys! I’m most proud of that I’ve had my black belt for almost 7 years! It’s taught me lots! Like responsibility, patience, and self-defense! Don’t mess with me.
