Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigitte Thomas.
Hi Brigitte, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I first got the itch to write fiction when I was ten years old. I started my first story right there in my fifth grade classroom, wanting to write a story where people I loved got the life they wanted. I then started writing poetry three years later when I hit my angsty pre-teen years. I’ve been doing it ever since.
In 2014, after learning about indie publishing, I put out my first novella. Since then, I’ve put out a number of novellas, novels, and poetry books. Other than being a mother, becoming an author was my only career asipration.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is it ever smooth? I often fight with the common enemy of writer’s block. I struggle with self-motivation, and I even have days where I wonder if I am doing the right thing. Then, I remember how much I love writing. How much I love connecting with readers and touching something in them with my words. And that makes it all worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am mostly known for paranormal romance and poetry. I also write contemporary romance and rom-coms. I’m working on several other genres at the moment as well. I am especially proud of my Regency romance that I put out a couple of years ago because I put a lot of time and research into the etymology of the words I was using to keep it as correct to the time as possible.
What sets me apart is my unending ideas. I currently have a list of over 300 book ideas at various stages.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Along with being an author and a mother, I also run a small crochet business. I mostly make plushes, and I travel to festivals to sell them to people. I love watching people light up when they see my plushes. Putting a smile on someone’s face is a great reward.
