Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Johnston.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I work as a transplant coordinator in my “real life,” which gives me much free time. I brainstormed ways to make fun money while also doing something I love (baking)! I wanted to bring something to Chattanooga that no one else was doing. Homemade cookie ice cream sandwiches from a bike are perfect! I never anticipated this success; I only thought it would be a small hobby with a bit of income.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been so blessed that this has been a fairly easy journey. There were some hoops to jump through, but nothing major.
Thanks for sharing that. Could you tell us more about your business?
The Milky Cow Co is homemade ice cream sandwiches from a bike! I make each cookie from scratch and use locally sourced gelato or Mayfield Ice cream. I am set apart because I am a one-woman show. I make everything from scratch. And my customer service is unmatched. I have cultivated so many local business relationships from this endeavor, which is priceless. I do all types of events, from weddings to someone who just wanted a personal stash for their freezer!
How do you define success?
Success for me is positively impacting my community, doing something I love, and showing my kids that you can do/be anything you want!
