Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Claxton.
Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I made my very first wreath as a personal project during the 2020 pandemic. I thought it turned out pretty ok, so I figured why not post it on Facebook and see if anyone else would want one. To my absolute surprise, my very first wreath went viral on Facebook. Before I knew it, I was flooded with orders.
At the time, I worked in medical claims, but I was absolutely miserable. One day, I woke up and decided to quit my day job of 5 years to wreath full-time, and thus Grim Wreath was born. Within a year and a half, I became an expert at my craft and became the first-ever wreath to work for Universal Studios.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has absolutely not been easy. Being a single creator came with a lot of challenges. I was unable to keep up with the demand for my wreaths and unfortunately have had to turn several clients away.
I have also experienced challenges when it comes to design. Sometimes, my ideas don’t always work, but I’ve always seemed to come up with an alternative. I spent nearly every day for a year educating myself on marketing, and wreathing. Another challenge I face is sometimes having to force creativity, but at this point, it’s become my nature.
If you truly believe in something you’re passionate about, you’ll always find a way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am full-time wreather that specializes in Halloween/Horror wreaths year-round. I am most known for how realistic my wreaths look when it comes to character design and placement.
What sets me apart from other wreathers is that I will go above and beyond to bring my client’s vision to life. Whether it’s hours of detailed painting or bidding wars on eBay for one-of-a-kind pieces.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that it doesn’t matter if you don’t start out as the best. If you truly want something and are passionate about it you will do whatever it takes to get there.
I have overcome many obstacles with this business, and have doubted myself and my abilities several times. With an amazing support system of friends and strangers alike, I have been able to overcome and believe in myself.
