Life & Work with Myles Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myles Walker.

Hi Myles, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Myles R. Walker. I am a published Author, Advocate, Activist, Creator, Designer, Speaker, and Coach among many things. I have Tourette Syndrome. I wrote a book in a drug riddles neighborhood it’s called “Me & My Tourette’s Motivated by God” it’s $9.95 and available at Barnes and Noble, E-book, Knook, Books A Million, Walmart, Amazon, Amazon Kindle, and worldwide book stores.

Big accomplishment for someone black educated intelligent who lives in a well-known poor community. I have never been to jail. I have no criminal history. I’m not on drugs I never sold drugs. I don’t take medicine for my TS. I know what it’s like to be kicked out of West Town East Towne Mall, police have threatened me, I took myself off at age 15 by myself without any help or treatment from doctor’s hospital clinics, etc. I always make the content of any situation. I teach people for years. I’ve saved lives, I’ve stopped people from committing suicide. I live in a low-income public housing neighborhood in the hood by myself to pay my own rent. People judge me for where I live because of the neighborhood.

I’m the only support any person living with TS people in East Tennessee have and or can relate to. Since 2002, when I moved to Knoxville from my home state of Connecticut, I told people I’d get kicked out of the mall’s stores and buses as well as deal with police discrimination job discrimination being black educated intelligent living in an impoverished environment. I did 3 news stories on 3 different channels WATE 6 WBIR 10 and WVLT 8. I don’t know why they won’t continuously show you. People so-called families thought I was going to be on drugs in jail when I lost my jobs from lies, jealousy, and envy. I don’t know why the news stations won’t show you my other 2 news stories. I think Knoxville hates it. I’m 40 years old still dealing with ignorant people, police, people and calling the law on ME and MY Tourette’s COUNTLESS times. Lol, it’s funny to me. There’s a lot of jealousy and envy in this town.

Actions always speak louder than words to me. You got to show me you love me, care, or help me, people. You can talk all you want. If people loved me as they claim they do. Nobody believe me when I told the town their people are just like me. All over this small town who has Tourette’s and need help. 20 years later, it’s still the same; no help, no doctors, and no clinics research. We have a support doctors’ group on Facebook that will help cater to East Tennessee. People are tired physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. So many parents in East, TN have been writing about what town they are from why they don’t have and need help support, etc.

For them their children. They just keep saying what I have been saying for years. For years, I’m always has been on social media Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube doing my thing. Google me.

Thank you 1LUV.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a very rough road. The everyday struggles living in a small uneducated town. With EVERYDAY assumptions ignorance, perceptions, looks stares, whispering pointing fingers laughing at, calling the police, security on me for no reason, being kicked out of stores, buses any place of business all over town whenever I’m out and about in public.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do my thing the way I do it cannot explain in detail. I am known for getting stuff done doing great things saying stuff that happens to expose the truth the lies the ignorance.

Telling people to watch what God is doing, gonna do just watch. Saying crazy stuff out loud in public as well as posting it on social media to the world years ago even right now just being right about stuff others don’t care for.

I’m proud of staying productive active creative busy making a super impact solo by myself in a small town that has no resources for people like us and being right all these years later saying and doing what I say and do. Finding the people I said I would I find. Not giving up. Do great things get things done on my own.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mother, Gloria Walker is my biggest advisor, supporter, and cheerleader. My mother is my Manager. She helps me ALOT with ALOT of stuff. My mother is the reason why I became a published author. She paid $500 for my book to be published. She didn’t have to do that. My mother never complained about why I had Tourette’s. She never questioned God. She has a real relationship with God, not religion.

She could’ve left me abandoned when I was young. She could’ve been giving up on me but she didn’t. She never made me feel any kind of way living with Tourette’s. She always treated me right. She’s seen a lot of stuff I do on social media. She knows about ALL the people I help worldwide. She deserves the credit for raising me, helping me not give up, and telling me as a child “I love you but the real world is going to kick you to the curb.”

I live by that statement today as we speak. It spoke volumes about what I still deal with today. I thank God for my mother, Gloria. Most people don’t have a mother, father, and grandparents, or any type of family member, a friend that understands what Tourette’s is affecting their child.
