Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Bell.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I’ve always loved performing and pursued entertainment as a career from a very young age. From playing in elementary school to being president of the high school drama club to becoming a theatre major in College, I spent 3 years traveling as an independent professional wrestler before becoming a stand-up comedian for the past 9 years. Over the last six years, I’ve built myself up to be one of the top large event emcees in the area. I’ve become the face and “Monster of Scaremonies” of the CreepyCon Halloween and Horror Convention after attending the first year as a vendor with my fiancé. I was very persistent about them taking a chance on me being their emcee; we’ve grown together ever since! I’ve branched out also over the past few years into hosting my own Online show, The Kreature Korner, and following my passion for film! I’ve written, produced, directed, and starred in several small projects. I even travel every season as a respected Haunted house reviewer with an incredible team of people called the Boo Review Crew!
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Struggle-wise, I didn’t have much support from anyone but my fiancé. Any gigs or events I booked were all booked through me going out and making it happen for myself. Taking stage time wherever I could, helping behind the scenes to learn the ins and outs, and networking my way into the path I wanted to be on. I’ve always wanted to cultivate a community of people building each other up instead of competing. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have some tremendous people who share a similar mindset in my life. I’ve been able to do some incredible things!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
By day I co-own and operate a Handyman Service with my best friend, the rest of the time, you’ll probably find me on stage or around a camera! I specialize in stand-up comedy and being a horror host! I’m known for being The Grand Duke of Spook! A high-energy horror host full of fantastically fiendish hijinks and shenanigary! I’m most proud of the experiences I’ve had as a result of my career, and I can’t wait to see what other amazing things the future has in store! My background and experiences set me apart, and as I said, I’ve always wanted to be an entertainer. Growing up in the South, being the horror-loving musical theatre kid didn’t always make me the most popular, but that never stopped me from pursuing my dreams, and now I get to live that dream with some great people. I’m just myself out there, and being me is something only I can do!
