Life & Work with Home Attack

Today we’d like to introduce you to Home Attack.

Hi Home Attack, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello! My name is London Pratt, less commonly known as Home Attack, and as for my story; I was born in Boaz, AL and have lived in Knoxville for six years. I’ve spent most of my life in bands or playing music from home, so naturally I’ve grown to be attached to music. So much so that I have a small home recording studio where I spend most of my free time. I’m actually typing this in the studio right now.. but the majority of work that goes down in (t)here is for “Home Attack”, a collaborative music duo with my long-time friend, Gabe Carrasco. I invited Gabe to be the second half of Home Attack shortly after releasing my debut EP “Jelly Sessions Vol.1”, but we had been collabing for so long anyway, his impact was always there.

The bulk of what I made for that album was from April 2019-April 2020, and we have since rapidly evolved our themes and ideas into a new album, which is currently in the works and releasing Spring 2022.

But I spend a typical day working at a local nursery, and I come home in the afternoon to mix the tracks we’re chest-deep in, along with brainstorming ideas for future social content to help promote our brand.

We are very much in our beginning stages, but this is a collaborative effort I see living for years to come, and I can’t wait to learn all I can along the way. I hope that many others will join us in the search of pleasing sounds, because as for what I’ve created in my life, Home Attack is by far the most purpose-driven, intentional, and satisfying accomplishment.

Simply because we made it ourselves, the way we wanted it to be. It’s healing and inspires us to pursue. So we hope to continue for the foreseeable future.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everyone has their own hurdles in life, I suppose mine mostly came in the form of unnoticed negative mental health. Years of self improvement have done wonders for me though, and I’m so thankful to have developed a new perspective on life that keeps me motivated to make great music, and most importantly, enjoy doing what I love most with great people around me. As much as I wish I could, I can’t say it’s been a smooth road to where I am today, and I have a long way to go. But I am nonetheless grateful for the insights this life has given me at my age.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My top priority is Home Attack, so follow my insta to know what we’re up to in the meantime. But a note on Home Attack: As a collective brand/persona, Home Attack was made to serve the idea that anything that you hold dear to you is art in your own eyes/ears, and free-flow creativity/collaboration is the future of what Gabe and I have been building upon. Home Attack is whatever you want it to be, but to me, what truly sets us apart is our ability to create with the big picture in mind.

We know that taste is essential, and indulgence makes a lame song. We want to surprise ourselves every time we hit the studio because art is spontaneous and the truest art is that which comes naturally. Home Attack is made to inspire artistic expression in anyone. And that’s what we proudly represent.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Knoxville is a beautiful place to call home, so I can hardly complain. I have loved living here the past 6 years and I have to say, although it isn’t in Knoxville, I am so grateful to live so close to the mountains. Easily my #1 favorite thing about Knoxville and Tennessee in general.

Although, I wouldn’t mind city roadwork getting completed in a more timely fashion. Going down Alcoa HWY to Maryville College every day was a big reason I stopped going lol.

Some of my absolute favorite places in Knoxville are Haw Ridge park, Iams nature center, and a great local restaurant is Big Ed’s Pizza. If you haven’t tried it, it’s a true experience and you must go.
