Inspiring Conversations with Patricia Henao Mesa of Bells with a view events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Henao Mesa

Hi Patricia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

Patricia Henao Mesa is a successful entrepreneur and real estate agent based in Knoxville, TN. She came to the United States from Colombia 26 years ago with her 3-year-old son and, over the years, worked in various jobs before launching her own Spanish-language business. With a strong background in customer service, strategic planning, and marketing, Patricia has become a leader in the Hispanic community.

She is currently a licensed real estate agent with Keller Williams, a Tv Host for JTV en Español, and the owner of Bells with a View Events, a venue that represents the result of her years of hard work. There, she offers a beautiful space for weddings, family gatherings, and retreats.

She is also the former president of NAHREP Knoxville (national association of the Hispanic real estate professionals) and played a key role in launching JTV en Español, a television jewelry sales program designed to reach the Hispanic community nationwide that is based in Knoxville, Tn and has been in business for over 30 years.

Patricia has faced many obstacles—life as an immigrant is never easy. Adjusting to a new language, a different culture, and even learning to drive were significant challenges. On top of that, she deeply missed her family, friends, food, and culture. However, the need to move forward became her greatest motivation. Having her son with her gave her the strength to overcome her fears, push forward, and continuously strive to become the best version of herself.

A proud mother of two sons and happily married, Patricia believes that this country has taught her that hard work pays off. She loves serving everyone, but the Hispanic community is her true strength—helping them brings her joy. As a bilingual professional fluent in English and Spanish, she serves a diverse clientele, specializing in buying and selling properties in Knoxville and surrounding areas.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have faced many obstacles—life as an immigrant is never easy. Adjusting to a new language, a different culture, and even learning to drive in America were significant challenges. On top of that, she deeply missed her family, friends, food, and culture. However, the need to move forward became my greatest motivation. Having my son with me gave me the strength to overcome my fears, push forward, and continuously strive to become the best version of me. You just learn to do it, even with fear.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bells with a view events ?
Bells with a View Events is Patricia’s “baby” now. When she visits the venue, she feels a sense of accomplishment. When they bought the property, neither she nor her husband had any idea they would turn it into an event venue. They’ve done all the work themselves and are incredibly proud of it. From painting (Patricia is the painter and designer) to remodeling the bathrooms and making it their own, it’s been an amazing journey.

After spending many years in Knoxville, they never imagined they’d end up with a property in Sevierville. But when Patricia stepped onto the balcony, she knew the property was meant for them. She felt right at home.

They soon realized that the place was too beautiful to keep just for themselves and decided to open the venue to share it with others.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Nothing is easy in life. As people say, “choose your hard.”

Have your north clear and follow your dreams. Get ready to work even harder than having an 8-5 job. Being an entrepreneur is never easy, and you will find rocks on the road. But just keep going, even if you have to take steps back.

For me, failing has never been an option. I think that is the most important thing—my kids were my north when they were growing up. I couldn’t fail them. I needed to provide.

Never stop believing in yourself and compete only with yourself. Don’t compete with others—that won’t get you anywhere, and it will only frustrate you.
